Adrianne tapped her pencil up and down on her desk as everyone around her began to leave the office. She couldn't bring herself to leave yet, the latest case was weighing hard on her mind.
"Hey beautiful, shouldn't you be going home?" One of the other cops, Paul Mason asked as he sat at his own desk.
"I will soon." She absently said, continuing to tap the pencil.
Paul looked at her, watched her body langue. "What?"
"I don't know. All these girls dead, it's the same guy I know it is but why them? What made him pick them?" Adrianne asked wishing this time someone could give her an answer.
"There isn't a link between them, not one we can see yet." Paul said. It was the biggest case to hit the town, everyone was scared and it was there job to catch the guy but everything took them to a dead end. Adrianne was taking it the hardest.
"I should be heading home, this isn't helping." Adrienne told him as she gathered her things and left the office. Being there only made it worse, at home she could think without anyone wondering about what.
She drove the dark empty streets, her mind wondering if anyone would be killed tonight for her to find in the morning. Adrienne parked her car and headed inside, it was times like this she was glad she lived close to the station.
"You look beat." Leigh said from the sofa as she watched Adrienne hang up her coat. "What happened?" she asked once Adrienne sat beside her.
"There was another body found today, she was at her home in bed shot to death. It wasn't robbery or rape; he just came in and killed her just like the others." She explained with tears flooding her eyes. All death was hard but this case was different, sicker then the others.
"Hey." Leigh softly said as she pulled Adrienne into a hug. "You don't have to be strong at home Adri just let go."
Adrienne pulled away from the hug and looked into Leigh's dark brown eyes, then kissed her softly on the lips. "You're too good to me."
Leigh brushed the free stands of hair away from Adrienne's face as she said. "That's because I love you." This time she kissed her, this kiss deeper then the last as their tongues touched and molded together. She pulled the button down shirt from Adrienne's waist band then slid her hand under the shirt feeling the soft bare skin.
Adrienne forced herself to pull away. "Come on." She briskly said as she grabbed Leigh's hand and pulled her along to the bedroom. The room was dimly lit as it always was; neither of them liked the dark much. The king size made was perfectly made, Leigh was a clean freak
"I don't get you keep making the bed when all we do is mess it up." Adrienne pointed out once she sat down on the perfectly made bed, she felt almost guilty for messing it up.
Leigh shook her head with a small grin as she pushed Adrienne down on the bed. "I'll explain it to you later." She moved her hands slowly down Adrienne's waist and stopped when she reached the start of her pants.
Teasing Adrienne she very slowly unbuttoned her pants and lowered the zipper. Once her pants were open Leigh moved up to her shirt and began unbuttoning that. When Adrienne's shirt was open and off, Leigh lowered her mouth down to her collarbone and kissed the warm skin.
As she moved her mouth up her neck she lowered her hand back to her pants and began pulling them down Adrienne's hips. The phone rang just as their lips met again. "No, no, no." she said when Adrienne began to move away.
"It could be important, I'm sorry babe." Adrienne sat up and reached for the phone on the nightstand. "Hello?" she said but no one answered.
"Who is it?" Leigh asked as she lowered Adrienne's bar strap and kissed her bare shoulder.
"No one, they didn't say anything." Adrienne hung up the phone and tried to brush it off but she had a bad feeling about that call.
"Hey," Leigh turned Adrienne's face so their eyes locked. "What's wrong?" she knew Adrienne well enough to know whatever was on her mind wasn't that simple.
"What's wrong is you're too dressed." Adrienne said. It was pretty late into the night; Leigh was ready for bed just wearing a long t-shirt. Adrienne pulled it over her head and stared at her beautiful naked body. "I love you so much." She said before pulling Leigh into a kiss.
This time she laid Leigh back and moved her mouth up and down her bare neck down to her bare breasts. She pulled the soft nipple into her mouth and rolled her tongue around until it was hard inside her mouth. Adrienne started her hand at Leigh's ankle and traveled up her long leg to her thigh. As she moved on to Leigh's other breast, her hand slid in-between her thighs, lightly touching the smooth dark hair. She kissed down the valley of her breasts and flat stomach.
Leigh shuddered with ecstasy when she felt Adrienne's tongue inside her.
The next morning Adrienne woke before Leigh, carefully not to wake her she left the bed and headed to the shower. As the warm water slammed on her body she thought about the day. She knew work would be stressful and hard as it has been lately. She looked forward to coming home, Leigh was her escape, her everything. She smiled at the thought of Leigh, she didn't know where she would be if it wasn't for Leigh.
She turned off the water and wrapped a towel around her body. Adrienne left the bathroom to see if Leigh was awake. The bathroom was connected with the bedroom, she opened the door she saw Leigh.
She was lying on the bed as blood escaped her body. Adrienne looked at the man standing at the foot of the bed with the gun and silencer. Even though he had a mask on, when her turned Adrienne locked eyes with him.
That was all she remembered before it all went dark.
