Legend of Axiel Part One: The Fall of Kyfrin

(The Mid-Year 1190)

Chapter 1: Abduction of a Captain

"Sir Fargo, please go and catch the thief that stole my ring yesterday. My 'sources', he began with emphasis on the word, 'sources', "tell me that he's headed southwest towards Majacka Town. If you ride on horseback, you'll probably be able to catch him right in between here and Majacka. You remember what he looks like, correct?"

Fargo replied, "Yes, milord, but that isn't much to go by. He was a hunched figure in a hood. Nevertheless, I promise that I shall catch him. Dead or alive?

Mikel eyes narrowed, "Either," he paused, thinking about it for a moment, "but bring me some proof of your victory if you kill him, and the ring of course."

Fargo gave a final nod, and turned to leave. He traveled along the long, blood red rug, that lead from the throne to the stairs that descended to the first floor of the castle, and then to the courtyard. A couple of his men were practicing there, with plain wooden swords.

"Durst! Mahon! Assemble!" Fargo commanded.

Both of the novice soldiers snapped to attention, holding swords crossed against their hearts, symbolizing the Kyfrin Knights of Peace, and both cried in unison, "Yes sir!"

"I would like you both to get horses ready at the town gate, meet me there. You two are coming with me, so bring three horses. And you must hurry; we're going after that dreaded thief that stole King Mikel's ring. Now get moving soldiers!"

The two rookies rushed off, while Fargo continued calmly down the path towards the bridge that crossed the moat and led into town. Before crossing the bridge, he went into the barracks, grabbed his sword, the magical Tyrfing. His blade was the most prized in the nation, with its astounding powers and all. It reflected the alignment of its wielder. So if the man who wielded the sword was evil, the sword was black and would have evil powers, but if a good and righteous soldier wielded it, Tyrfing was a shining white color and used holy powers. There were many different types of each power, depending on just how evil and how good the wielder was.

Tyrfing had holy of course right now, because Fargo owned it. Fargo smiled to himself as he stared at his strong body in the mirror as he pushed Tyrfing into its scabbard.

At the gates, Durst and Mahon shuddered at the fierce looking form of Fargo

walking towards them, his shining armor glinting in the sun. He got on his horse and nodded to them, "Come on, you don't need armor. This won't be much of a fight. You both have your daggers, right?"

The two brandished the short blades,, hopped on their horses and headed out of the gate.

Nininki suddenly felt something. She was being followed. Using her still developing psychic powers, she tried to find who was seeking her. Good, it was a bunch of soldiers from Kyfrin. They must be after the ring she had recently acquired. No bother, her body was old now, she needed a new one. She hoped they were young and strong because she needed a new body.

She sat down on a large stone that seemed to be placed under a large oak tree to wait for her followers. The grassland around her was peaceful, and beautiful. It was the type of landscape that could've come straight from a painting. She imagined that the soldiers must think she was headed for Majacka, because King Mikel's so called "sources," which were actual a bunch of spies that hid in the shadows and looked at her numerous times, had told him that. They had returned to her path to get more information on where she was headed, but she had spotted them, and killed them.

She had really been heading back towards her hut that she had used for a couple of days. She would start the incantation there. But realizing these men were following her had reminded her that she had forgotten something very foolishly. It must be her old woman mind. Without other people around, the incantation was useless, and would bring her race to destruction. She decided she'd take the body of one of them and head back to Kyfrin, and start the incantation there, after she had made it her personal city.

She drew back her hood, and then feeling a cool breeze, decided to take all of it off. The cloak was dreadfully hot. Nininki used her powers to sense where the soldiers were again. By the speed they were traveling, they must be on horseback. They would be here within two hours. She decided she could wait. She looked at the ring. Pathetic fools, they didn't even know what it was, or who had stolen it. Humans are such fools, she thought in amusement.

The truth was that this ring was a key to a certain dimension that was only accessible through this key. Not even the black magic of the Outworld's sorcerors could create a portal to this dimension. It was a world called Kaomi. It was a place that she herself intended to conquer for her own. The ring was named Kaomi's Key. It was deep ruby red and seemed to glimmer every time she looked at it. Nininki figured that a guardian of Kaomi gave it to King Mikel for safekeeping, but didn't inform the king of its power.

She decided that before she took on the task of conquering a whole world, she would take the time to pleasure herself with Kyfrin. Then she might go to the other castle on this side of Jaymen, which was Phlydor. It was rumored that there was another great treasure there, some sort of immortality bracelet or something. If she got that then she wouldn't ever have to switch bodies again. She wondered what it would be like to be able to stay in the same body for the rest of eternity. Would her body wither away, or stay the same age? Despite the prospect of immortality, she decided she could gain immortality after she had her own world.

The reason Nininki wanted to take over Kaomi and not this world, was that since a few humanoids had already heard of her race, the dazhantas, they knew how to detect her and even kill her. The people of Kaomi had never heard or imagined of a dazhanta, so they'd be much easier to take control over.

The soldiers should be here right about now, she thought, pulling her cloak up quickly and pretending to be asleep. She heard the sound of hooves and slowed her breath down as much as possible. She breathed rhythmically, like a sleeping woman would. She was suddenly kicked in the stomach.

"Up with you, you scumbag of a man! I am Captain Fargo, and we know you're the thief. Confess and go to jail, or die!" said the captain, which was the only man in armor.

Nininki pulled back her hood, revealing her old and female face.

Fargo hardly looked startled at the fact she was just an old woman, "No matter, an old hag is still able to steal! Now confess, or die here!"

She couldn't help but laugh. This man was such a fool, like all other humans. He drew Tyrfing from its scabbard. Her laughing stopped abruptly, but stayed a menacing, toothless grin. This might be interesting.

"Sir, I don't know what you're talking about. What's going on?" she said, smirking.

"Do you mock me?! You will die by the holy powers of Tyrfing!" Fargo cried and dismounted from his horse. He charged straight at her, intending to impale her chest.

She grinned and easily dodged the arrogant attack, "You know not who you are dealing with, human."

Fargo paid no attention to her claim. He slashed furiously at her neck, she ducked. A trail of glowing white holy energy followed Tyrfing wherever Fargo slashed. Had this ignorant human realized he was fighting a dazhanta-controlled woman, he would run. It was a fact that any dazhanta-controlled humanoid was stronger and much faster than the humanoid would be alone.

Nininki decided to retaliate. She waited for Fargo to attack one more time, and she expertly parried him, and kicked the back of his ankles. Fargo lay sprawled on the grass. He moaned and ordered his 'moronic' assistants to help him. They reluctantly got off their horses and unsheathed their weapons. Nininki charged right at them. Durst held his sword pointed towards her weakly, while Mahon just froze completely. The old woman jumped high into the air and with one kick, snapped both of their necks. The horses fled in terror.

Nininki dodged a slashed from behind her from the now standing Fargo. Fargo slashed again, Nininki easily parried with a hard kick to the stomach and an elbow to the back of his head. Fargo was staggering. Nininki slammed her foot into the captain's swordhand and sent the blade a few feet away in the grass.

She grabbed the man's chin and stared straight into his eyes, into his soul. Fargo suddenly gasped as Nininki's eyes blazed yellow for a moment, and then he felt something changed. Suddenly, he was on his back, staring straight up into the sky. Nininki picked up Tyrfing with her new, powerful, manly hands. Suddenly, the white blade screamed in terror. A brilliant eruption of blackness shrouded Nininki and the blade turned black itself.

After the darkness disappeared, she held the blade high over her head and slashed it down through Fargo's stomach. He would never even know he died in the body of an old woman. Nininki looked around, no living soul was around, and Fargo's horse had bolted. She laughed evilly and decided that having fun with a castle before taking on the work of a world might be a good idea for practice.
