Lightning

It’s the sound of thunder that always jolted me back to reality.

The sound of your not-so-secret disgust,

Bringing me back.

Was this what you wanted?

Was this how you wanted it to end?

I think so.

And yet, I think not.

I think it was an impulse.

Like a flash of lightning.

Firing up the sky in a fearful silver and black.

You thundered down the hallway,

And cursed the day we ever met.

How blessed I was, how blessed you were.

Firing up the sky in a fearful silver and black.

While I turned black and blue.

It is awe-inspiring, I cower in a corner at the sight.

And wonder if you’ll ever strike again.
