I, the Monster
Don’t lift up your covers at night,
The monsters come from the closet,
Sneak out from underneath the bed,
And attack.
When you heard noises,
You forgot those words of wisdom,
And peeked from underneath,
And screamed.
Ignorance branded in its eyes,
Hatred crawling through its skin,
Betrayal marring its false smile,
Evil scrawled all over the creature.
Foul odors of irrationality,
Steams of anger,
Tears of false security,
Choked you.
You turned away in disgust,
You struggled to get away,
But you know in your heart,
You never will.
They’ve told you before,
And you’ll hear it again,
What you have conceived
You shall become.
