A Place To Belong
By Wisiaden
“Don't do it. I'll stop you.” Startled, Alexandra looked up to see a boy with beautiful brown eyes full of determination. “It doesn't matter anymore.” She said to him quietly. “I tried to fight it, but my resolve is too weak. No one can see why, though my face clearly shows it. Let me say this... and I want it to be engraved on my stone. Over there on my bed is a paper with this poem. It goes like this.
“I wish I was gone,
And never here,
Life's a bitch
That ever exists
I rather die
Than feel the pain
I want to be stone
Feeling no sun
Life's ironic
And quite a laugh
I wish I was gone
And never here”

“Alexandra.” The boy now a year older stood next to a simple tombstone encased with a poem. “It's me... John.” He cleared his throat. “It's hard to talk. I read your journals, writings and poems... None of us ever guessed how much you suffered. I know you tried to snap yourself out of it...You tried to believe people care because it's true...I want to say I love you back... I didn't know I hurt you the most, I didn't know anything...” He paused briefly.
“After reading your things and with your death... well I changed... I have more respect for people now I guess. I also learn to see beneath oneself. I wish I could have done so for you. I know that everyone needs a place to belong...and I'm sorry you didn't find yours...I'm still healing slowly. Mostly from heartbreak and shock I suppose...well, I hope I'll see you again someday. In another time and place...may you find your place...”
John turned and left never to visit the grave again. Yet on that day a white flower sprouted and smiled happily at the sun, in a world where it belong to grow freely...
