Gentlemen and Blonds

I stared with disbelieving eyes
Upon the freshly blond locks of her hair,
And screamed so nearly all could hear:
“What the bloody hell have you gone and done?”

She just smiled a twittering smile at me,
And scanned the crowd whilst flashing teeth.
And began to blather on; about gentlemen and blonds,
Whilst I ordered my first drink.

It only took a moment for the vodka to come, and her to slither off,
And soon returned in a spray, as I watched on in stark disbelief
As she pulled close another bloke; dismissing the younger one,
And suggested they should, maybe, leave.

My jaw fell down as I choked on my drink
While she followed him out, winking as she passed me by.
Then the barman whispered in my ear:
“A gentleman may prefer a blond, but he always leaves with a brunette.”
