To Forget

Ah, to forget

Such joy it brings to my mind

Illuminates a smile upon my face

Brings happiness to my soul.

The pain of the memory fades away

Is replaced by a numbness

A dull throb that is almost soothing.

It grants me comfort

Knowing all the things of the past will vanish

Will leave my mind forever

Yet

Why must I forget the important things?

Why must I forget that my Creator loves me?

That He is there always

Watching over me

Wrapping His arms around me.

I feel alone

Forgotten

Betrayed

And yet I forget.

I forget that He never leaves me

That with Him I am never forgotten.

It is not His fault that I feel this way

But my own.

I have forgotten Him

Ah, to forget

Such joy it brings to my mind

Illuminates a smile upon my face

Brings happiness to my soul

For I know that the things I forget

Can soon return to my soul

And fill me with comfort.

Ah, to forget is wonderful

But to remember is even better.
