CHAPTER 1

Drake Porter ran a hand through his messy dark blonde locks as he jogged around the large field of his manor. His twin sister and best friend Callista Porter jogged beside him, her jet black locks tied up in a ponytail. "What's due today?" he asked breathlessly.

"It's the first day of school," Callista answered softly, "Nothing's due…" She collapsed on the grass. "Unless you count that date with Tiffany tonight."

"Who the fuck is Tiffany again?" Drake asked, looking down at his pretty sister with his storm grey eyes. Callista rolled on her back and glared at him with her own grey eyes. He collapsed beside her.

"The girl you asked out yesterday, who was only happy to accept," she said with a wry smile. Drake rolled over so that his head rested on Callista's stomach. He smiled up at her and she rolled her eyes at him.

"But Callie…" he whined. "I don't even know who the bloody girl is. Is she the blonde or the redhead at the coffee shop yesterday? After all, there were two hot girls there while you worked."

Callista sat up and Drake's head moved onto her lap. "God, you are bloody weird, you know that?" she commented, messing up his hair. "Don't you ever treat girls with respect?"

"The only girls I respect are you and mum, you know that." Drake's smile turned into a frown. "All the other girls just want to get to know me because I'm devilishly handsome."

"I'm glad I have your respect, Drake, but can you at least find another girl you can decently respect?" Callista asked, brushing his hair away from his eyes. "C'mon, it's not so hard a challenge."

"Fine, if you and mum really want me to," he mumbled. Callista smiled and hugged her brother. "You owe me, sister. Mum owes me too."

"Trust me brother, nobody will love you as much as we do." She stood up and held out her hand. "Now come on, lazy bum, we'll be late for school."

-

"Ryan!" Drake called, rushing over to his best friend Ryan Baltimore. Ryan turned around, his dark brown hair falling into his eyes in a really cute way. "Dude, how've you been?"

"Bored this whole summer in Ohio." Ryan sighed. "My cousins are as boring as ever. But I caught every girl's watchful eye there. You could get laid in a week."

"Gross," Drake said distastefully. He opened his new locker. "Have you seen Callie at all this summer? She lost loads of weight. I'm proud of her."

"What'd you guys do?" Ryan asked, running a hand through his hair. "I mean, last time I saw her she, no offense, was as bloated as a hippo." Drake's eyes glared dangerously. "Hey, I said no offense."

"Drake!" Both heads turned, and so did every boy's in the hall. Callista rushed to him and tucked strands of her hair behind her ear. "Hey, beware for your art class, Tiffany's there. Y'know, the girl you're supposed to date." She glanced at everyone who was staring in disbelief. "What, have you ever see a girl before?!"

"Whoa," Ryan whispered. His sea green eyes sparkled brightly. "Callie, is that you?"

"In the flesh," Callista said wryly. "Drake, just watch out. That girl remembers everything. I'll catch you two later. Bye Ryan, Drake."

She turned around and walked away to catch up with her friends. Ryan ran a hand through his hair in shock. "Dude… your sister's very pretty."

"I know," Drake said with a smile.

-

"Hey Callie," a voice called. Callista turned her head around and met the dark brown eyes of Jake Matthews, her best friend since birth. "Whoa. Is that you, my dear?"

"Yeah, unfortunately." Callista let Jake lift her up and hug her. He smiled at her. "Okay, did I change that much or people are completely blind?"

"You changed a lot, Cal, if you really didn't notice." Jake smirked and wrapped an arm around Callista's shoulder. "Now, my dear, how was your summer?"

"Tiring, Drake and I worked out almost everyday. Soccer, swimming and jogging." Callista rolled her eyes. "That man is a bloody slave driver. I swear I had to balance that and work at the café."

"Aw, my poor Callie," Jake teased. They walked to their Homeroom. "I heard there was a new student today. I wonder who it could be."

"Don't hit on the poor person, Jake," she joked, and he laughed. They sat down at the back and continued chattering until the teacher, Mrs. Wilson, entered the room with a girl with chestnut brown hair and chocolate brown eyes.

"Class, this is Nicole Xavier. She's from England; please make her feel at home. Don't hit on her, Jake," Mrs. Wilson warned, making him blush. "Callie, dear, you look wonderful. Mind showing this lovely girl around?"

"Sure, Mrs. W," Callista said, grinning at Nicole, who grinned back. She walked past the aisles, getting most boys' attentions and sat beside Callista. "Hey, I'm Callista Porter, but everyone calls me Callie. This is Jake, my best friend since forever. He doesn't bite unless you ask him to."

Nicole laughed. "Hey, I'm Nicole, everyone calls me Nikki." She outstretched her hand, which Callista shook and so did Jake afterwards. "So, how long have you guys studied here?"

"Since god-knows-when," Jake said, making Nicole laugh. "Well, it's our junior year now, so we've been here since eighth grade. The very infamous four, Callie, Drake, Ryan and I have lived here since we were little babies."

"And we were cute babies, too," Callista added, laughing. "Drake and I are twins, fraternal ones because we don't have the same hair color. Ryan is Drake's best friend and Jake's mine. We've seen each other's lives, well, school lives unfold."

"Interesting," Nicole said, grinning. The bell rang and the three stood up, grabbing their bags. "So, my first class is Art, not very good at it, but I love it anyway."

"Our class too, we can introduce you to Drake and Ryan," Callista said, walking out of the classroom with Nicole and Jake. They walked up to the large building where the laboratories are. They walked up the large ramps to the art room.

"Hey, Callie, Jake," Ryan greeted. He saw Nicole and smiled politely. "Hey, I'm Ryan Baltimore. You must be the new girl everyone was talking about."

"The one and only. I'm Nicole Xavier," Nicole said, outstretching her hand for him to shake. He shook it and smiled. She then saw Drake and nodded. "You must be Drake then."

"How'd you know?" Drake asked suspiciously, running a hand through his hair. Nicole rolled her eyes and tilted her head towards Callista. Callista snorted as Drake looked insulted.

"I'm her guide of the school," she explained, making Drake nod. Nicole tied her hair up in a ponytail and slung her bag over her shoulder. "Okay, let's head in."

Nicole, Jake and Ryan entered first. Drake approached Callista. "Whoa, seems as if she's immune to my looks," he commented dryly, making her roll her eyes. "Hey, it's very refreshing."

"Good." Callista laughed. "Now come on, let's not keep them waiting."
