So I'm sitting here
Staring out the window
Watching the layers of clouds
The wispy grey pass over
The fluffy white
Creating this still motion
An illusion of a bright sky
Staring up into it
I wonder about what's beyond
Is there something I'm missing?

And then I look out
Towards the west
Where I know you are
I hope you're looking back
At least once while I'm staring
So I can feel like we're together
And the sky won't lie anymore
Because it will be bright blue
Over you and me and the miles between

A train buzzes by my window
And for some reason makes me think
If only it was headed the other way
I could stow away on the last car
And bring my kisses and love to you
And brighten your day with my love
I would take your hand and promise
That I could never forget your smile
And that smile would just blow me away

But instead, I'm sitting here
In front of a computer
My only link to you anymore
It reminds me how big the world can be
And how insignificant this distance is
And it might feel like an eternity
Between the times we can see each other
But it'll all be worth it
If we can slow down the time
Long enough to enjoy our lives together

The clouds are almost gone now
And the sun is almost set
Soon we'll be together
If only in our dreams
And if only for the night
This thought soothes me
And calms my beating heart
And brings me a beaming grin
For the day cannot come soon enough
When I can hold you in my arms
And finally call you mine

Only a few questions left burning
In my troubled and worried mind
When will this journey occur?
And when can we finally hold hands?
When will I be able to call you mine?
And will the wait until that day kill me?
Will the dreams suffice until then?
And do you dream as much as I do?

But I know the answers will come
Whether it be very soon or not
And I await that day with open arms
Because the answer I seek is there
We will finally be united
In a love so completely perfect
And we will be so happy together
Although it might not last forever
The time we share will live on
Because forever is in my heart.
