Love has taken its toll on me

On day one we were strangers,
Admiring one another from afar.

You told me you watched me for months,
And that you loved looking into my eyes,
Because you believed you could see my soul.

Then slowly over time our relationship began to enhance.
We talked all the time about our lives,
And promised to love each other till we died.

We feel in love,
Or at least I did.

The nights we spent together,
Laying in bed holding one another,
Will never cease to be erased from my mind.

You lead to believe we’d be together forever,
But now here I am after you suddenly decided never.

You didn’t even give me a warning,
A sign or anything.

The calls slowly stopped,
And then I never got a ring.

Its several months later,
And I’m still not better.

You ripped my heart straight out of my chest,
Destroyed all my hopes and dreams,
And took away all my rest.

I stay awake every night replaying us over and over,
Sadly I still haven’t been able to move on.

I’ve actually tired,
And I still am,
But I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to love another,
Like I do you,
Because love has taken its toll on me.
