Anna of Byzantium book meets The Elf and the Dormouse poem. 8th grade English assignment that I did wrong (storyline was supposed to be the same, not the line schemes), but I liked it.

The Lost Empress

-

-

-

-

Into the shelter

Slipped a mere peasant

She once was noble

But now was unpleasant.

-

-

-

-

In the beginning,

Anna knew her fate.

She would become the empress

That nobody could hate.

-

-

-

-

But when evil John was born,

Aa became upset

For that monkey would take the throne

That Anna was destined to get.

-

-

-

-

Anna Dalassena, the girl's own namesake,

Began to plot a plan

To send Anna off to a convent

In a far-off land.

-

-

-

-

Poor Princess Anna

Soon was defeated

By her own grandma

Who wanted her beaten.

-

-

-

-

So out of Constantinople

Young Anna was led.

The poor girl was no longer heir

Her forlorn life was full of dread,

-

-

-

-

The vengeful princess

Never got what she wanted.

-

-

-

-

Her whole sad life,

Poor Anna was taunted.
