Of Arts and Soccer
The day was a normal one. It was a beautiful fall morning in September. A young woman of 18 sat at the base of a Sakura tree drawing in a sketchbook. Occasionally, she would glance up from the book to look at the lake in front of her and then, once again, let her pencil meet the stark white paper that consumed her attention.
A couple yards away, sitting at a picnic table, three students looking around 19, were observing the newest addition to their school. The first had shoulder length jet-black hair with crimson red bangs. Her red and black eyes looked calmly to the lake. The boy sitting next to her was her complete opposite. Startling silver hair was calmly swept out of his sea-green eyes as he observed the girl next to him rather than the topic of their current discussion. The last boy had dark-green, almost black, hair with hot pink highlight reaching down and intertwined with his dark-green hair into a shoulder blade-length braid. Forest-green eyes casually swept over the different places around him.
There was nothing very unusual about these three college students. They wore the traditional dark blue uniforms, and were always seen together. They were very popular about the college campus despite being only freshman. All three were starters for the school’s soccer team and led their team to victory each time.
The female turned to her male companions. “I’ve never seen her around before and I am pretty sure that we know everyone on campus or seen everyone that attends here.”
“Why the interest Maxwell?” Asked the silver hair bishonen.
“Can it Pierce. I just like knowing what all is around me.” Maxwell replied. She then turned to her last companion. “You’re awful quiet today Velsper. Something on your mind?”
“Just observing what’s all around me,” He replied mockingly.
“What? Observing some girl?” Pierce asked and gestured in the direction of the lake.
“Shut up. Mind your own damned business.” Velsper mumbled under his breath.
Maxwell and Pierce both raised an eyebrow. It was Pierce who spoke up. “What? Planning on trying to win the affections of a rich chick?”
Velsper glared at him. “What? You don’t think that I could get with her?” He laughed. “I have girls begging me to go out with them. Some one like her would be all too easy.”
Pierce and Maxwell exchanged glances before smirking. Maxwell then turned her smirk to Velsper. “Actually, I think that a snowball has a better chance of surviving 9th level Hell than you do of getting with her.” She nodded towards the still figure of the now resting girl.
Pierce nodded. “I agree. Hell, I have a better chance of getting our Maxi-chan here to wear a pink gown to a dance with me than you do of getting that chick.”
Velsper rolled his eyes but then a grin took over his face. “How bout a bet then? 100 says that I’ll have her begging to go to the fall festival with me.”
The sea green eyed man nodded. “Alright.” He then turned to Maxwell. “You have anything to add?”
Maxwell shook her head. “Why would I involve myself in such a childish bet?”
“I’ll give you half of my winnings?” Velsper offered.
“What would I have to do?” Maxwell asked suspiciously.
“Well…..” Velsper grinned. “I was thinking something like…..”
End of Prologue
Kitsu: Well, Another story’s up. I hope that this one turns out better then how my other one is going. I have a total freeze on what to do with that one, but now that summer is here I can spend more time writing. Maxi-chan is now my beta reader. She sat here and corrected and helped me with setting up this chapter. I have already started the next chapter, so it should be out in a few days.
