How dare he? I mean all I did was try to help him, ungrateful cockroach. Oh, hey, you’re here. Suppose I better begin at the beginning. Ok, here we go.
Now, it all started one day during Biology.
‘Professor McCarthy?!’ A manly voice shouted in a flat panic outside the door to the classroom.
‘Excuse me for a moment class’, Mrs. McCarthy whispered politely as she opened the classroom door, and slamming it shut.
‘Riley’, the Brainy kid nominated. Every kid has a chance at eaves dropping on the teachers conversation, obviously today, was my turn. I got up and tip-toed as quietly as possible towards the door.
‘What?!’ I heard Mrs. McCarthy whisper furiously.
‘A student is missing’, the manly voice whispered in return.
‘Who?’ Mrs. McCarthy whispered anxiously.
‘Corey Oliver’, the manly voice who I had only just recognized as Mr. Needs.
‘He might be in my class, I haven’t checked’ and I gasped at that, Mrs. McCarthy not checking her students. I had only just realized that she was going to burst through this door any moment now so I jogged it back up to my seat. And yes, what do you know, she burst through that door as soon as my frail little bottom touched my seat.
‘Corey?’ she shouted above the student’s heads as she walked down the isle.
‘Miss, Corey isn’t in our class, he’s in Mr. Needs class at the moment’, I commented politely.
‘Yes dear, I know this, but unfortunately, Oliver, Has gone missing’, she whispered in a barely audible voice. Just as I was going to retaliate to her statement the siren went.
‘Class dismissed’, I shouted happily as I was the first to shoot out of the classroom door. Probably not the best decisions I had, but I did only to race out into a depressing hall full of crying girls and moping guys.
‘See what I meant yesterday?’ someone said behind me. It was Sarah.
‘Yeah, no wait, what did you say yesterday?’ I questioned totally more confused than usual.
‘That the school would turn into a graveyard if Corey disappeared’, Sarah stated as if she was smarter than everybody, that’s what I kind of liked about her, she wasn’t afraid to voice her own opinion. Anyway getting off topic here…
‘What is wrong with this school?!’ I shouted.
‘Corey’s gone and all you can do is ask us what’s wrong?’ a girl sobbed at me as she snorted into her hanky.
‘Yes, I mean he’s only a guy, how can he create such a big influence on your lives?’ I shouted as everybody’s attention was now on me.
‘May I remind you how much of an influence he created on your life when he went on holidays?’ Sarah whispered in my ear as a few people near me laughed a saddened laugh.
‘Shush’, I “shushed” her.
‘Riley likes Corey?’ A nearby girl cooed as I just glared at everybody and exited out the schools front doors.
‘School Holidays, thank god’, Sarah whispered beside me, she obviously knew I was terribly angry.
‘Why?’ I whispered depressingly to Sarah.
‘‘Coz its school holi…’ and I cut her off.
‘No, why did you tell everybody about my crush on Corey, which by the way, is so last year’, I answered happily as I noticed her face change to one of embarrassment.
‘Sorry’, she answered defiantly.
‘Hey, calm it down, I was only telling you’, I answered to her charge as I laughed and walked off.
It was tomorrow, well technically today, but who really cares. And it was the school holidays. I was spending them with my friend Natalie, in the U.S.A.
‘Riley, we have to be at the airport half an hour before the plane is scheduled to leave, so shove your little bottom out the door’, my mother shouted at me as I threw my suitcase down the stairs.
‘Gang way’, I shouted as it landed with a thud on the cat. I cursed, as did the cat.
‘Pardon’, mum said coming into the hallway.
‘I threw the suitcase on the cat’, I whispered covering my mouth as mum gasped and chucked the suitcase only to find the cat standing up perfectly fine underneath the table, but giving me glares.
‘Pick up your suitcase and get in the car’, mum raged as I rushed through what I had left to do, and managed to drag my suitcase out and into the car.
Ok I’m just going to skip that part. Lets just say it was less then enjoyable. Anyway…
I arrived at some airport, I never did pay attention to where Natalie lived.
‘Riley’, I heard someone shout.
‘Natalie’, I shouted in return to the voice as I dropped my suitcase and launched into a huge hug.
‘Hey, I missed you so much’, she said happily.
‘Same, but lets go’, I laughed as I picked up my suitcase and greeted her parents before heading out of the stuffy airport and into the USA.
Ok, now here is where things get a little weirder.
The next morning, after we had stayed up till 6am, Natalie’s mother came in and woke us up at 6:30am.
‘Rise and shine, sleeping beauties’, she shouted flicking the light on, only to get an answer of to overly tired groans.
‘Mum, it’s 6:30 in the morning’, Natalie answered before I could.
‘And you have school’, she argued in return before leaving Natalie to fall out of the top bunk, as I snuggled deeper into my blanket.
‘Up’, Natalie shouted in my ear as I jumped up only to head my head and catch my hair on the wire springs supporting the mattress.
‘Why, it’s your school not mine?’ I whined hopefully as I ducked my head under the fluffy covering.
‘There’s nothing to do around here, plus, mum says you have to come’, Natalie said cheerfully as I slammed the blanket back and glared at her as I finally made it out the door.
‘Have a nice day at school, won’t you?’ Natalie’s mum said happily, she was obviously a morning person as she bounced out the door, I, however was not.
‘Cornflakes, cocoa-pops, rice bubbles, and/or the breakfast on the go strawberry drink?’ she said evilly, because she knew immediately what I was going to choose. So she threw the strawberry drink at me and I walked slowly upstairs.
‘Where’s your mum going?’ I shouted down stairs, only just realizing that her mum had not yet come back through the front door during my period of time downstairs.
‘Work’, Natalie simply said behind me.
‘Oh’, I said scared, although I tried so hard not to show it.
‘So size 18 or 20?’ she asked happily, although I knew what she was talking about, surprisingly.
’20, I like them baggy’, and she immediately started laughing, what a gross mind that girl has. She handed me a pair of black and red checkered hipster flares and her long-sleeved grey shirt along with a T-shirt expressing the words “Bite Me”. I looked this look. But Natalie went the total opposite. Short skirt, short sleeves.
’10 minutes to get to school’, Natalie said all to happily, as I grabbed my strawberry breakfast on the go drink and rushed out the door after her, but not before putting on my favorite black converse shoes.
Hours later, even though it was only 2 hours later, Natalie had choir practice.
‘I don’t have to sing do I?’ I questioned nervously. I had won 3rd place in a fundraiser singing comp, but I had my best friend Laani there with me, so I wasn’t as scared.
‘No, it’s the seniors singing today, we usually head to the study hall, but everybody goes to watch the Hackers’, she stated still all to happily.
‘Hackers?’ I questioned and as we walked into the choir hall I new immediately what she was talking about, and I was an expert.
‘Heads up’, some one yelled as Natalie ducked and I just caught the little hack-sack flying at my head.
‘Nice catch’, Corey had said. “Wait, Corey?” I said, well that’s what I thought.
‘Corey?’ I asked staring straight at him.
‘Um, sorry, my names Ryan’, he whispered staring straight back at her.
‘No seriously, you’re an exact replica of Corey Oliver’, I stated touching his face just to tell whether they felt the same.
‘Those hands…’ I heard him whisper; it kind of freaked me out, so I snatched my hand back and got up.
‘Um, Natalie, I’ve got…’ but I couldn’t finish my sentence, I had just fainted.
A few hours later in the nurses office, I awoke.
‘Hola, siniorita’, a manly voice whispered as I sat up slowly holding my head.
‘Hola’, I answered in return as I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stood up.
‘Sorry, I mean, about before and all’, the voice apologized, as I finally looked up at the owner. It was Corey Oliver.
‘So you should be’, I answered softly, not meant in a harsh way.
‘So you forgive me then?’ he asked sweetly, and I couldn’t help but smile at him. His old self always used his voice for pain and misery, this person standing in front of now, defiantly wasn’t the person I knew.
‘Only if you come back to Australia with me, just to find out whom you really are?’ I asked, oh so sweetly. He smiled, so I know he was contemplating it.
‘Fine, but you’re paying for my plane trip’, he argued playfully as I just laughed and walked off leaving him to follow me like a little puppy.
Ok, I know I’m skipping fast here, but as you read up the top, I’m really, not very happy with him.
