it was the night of february the fourteenth

there was music , clear, haunting, clutching at my chest

tearing slowly at the walls of my conciousness

i lay helpless before my sense of emptiness

so i sat in my chair, elbows at the table

and i saw couples dancing, i was filled with envy

yet i despised them, and my mind drifted away

thinking of vengeance as my strained, weary eyes trailed

there you sat, across the room,my very reflection

your lost eyes met mine and i went to were you sat

held out my hand, and queasy, asked you to dance

i thanked my stars that your hands clasped on mine

as we moved to join the throng, eyes set upon us

but we paid them no heed,no,not on this dark eve

you gently wrap your bejeweled arms around my neck

as i lay mine upon your purple covered waist

we shuffled feet, the music flowed through,we swayed

like swans on the cold waters of the frozen north

craving that the song never cease, i held on tight

afraid to let go lest the moment slip away

but in my i heart i knew all this must soon end

the night gives way to morn, buds turn into flowers

we will part ways ,and i drink in this sweet instance

sating myself with the joys of this dance, perhaps our last
