Dedicated to Leah a.k.a. Lauren

-I’m not as good as poem-writing as you are, but it’s the thought that counts, right?!

:Autumn:

You’re apart of the class of 2005
Everybody there is vain and deprived
Except for you, the one girl named Leah R
You’re different and classy; you’re the bright star.

We’ve gone to the same school
For the last seven years
You know all my crushes
And all of my fears.
I’m sure you remember
“Freddy” and “Claudio”
Let’s not forget
My summer love—Dario.

When it comes to me,
Your class has never been kind
The insults and rumors
Were not hard to find.
Especially that stupid
Twig-boy named Finn
He is nauseating
And unnaturally thin.

But when he’d bombard me with comments that stung
A sudden defense would fall out of your tongue.
You might not have seen it
But I would smile gladly
Even when he
Would make me feel badly.

8th grade class of 2005 isn’t my favorite thing
So when you all graduate, I’ll really have to sing
Some of your classmates need fresh air
Claudio needs to get over his hair.

I really dislike them with an unholy passion
Most of them are obsessed with movies, hair and fashion.
But unlike them, you’re not superficial,
Vain, and mean;
Or exteriorly artificial

You might not think
You’re beautiful on the outside
But when I heard that
I could have died because that’s not fine
You’re the most beautiful 8th grader
Inside and out
And don’t deny it
Or dare to doubt.

“Noah” may not like you
In the way that he should
It’s just sad for him
Because he has something good.
Think of it this way
Once your feelings have departed
He’ll realize what he’s missing
And be broken hearted.

You draw and you rhyme
You hug and you write
You know what you’re talking about
And you do what is right.

With you as my friend,
I’ll never be alone,
I couldn’t survive the school
if I was on my own.

And that is why you should’ve never had to cut,
Everyone knows “Reeve” is a bitch
And “Michelle” can be a slut.
“Andy's” is kind of whiney
Finn and Kat Diablo split.
Even though he never seemed to do useful s—t. (hehe)

Some of them may be your friends
But you know you can be much better than that
When it comes to talent and kindness
They’d be squashed flat

So good luck in high school!
And continue to let your poems flow free
Perhaps one day
We can break Finn’s knee.

Although I’ll miss you
Next year when I’m in 8th grade
I can’t help but be happy
Your class couldn’t stay.

If you still don’t believe me
Just know what I say is true
That in your heart
The loveliest rose grew.

I love you!
