Another English assignment!

Table

I stand alone in the dark

Remembering the days long since past

Children came to play around me

They colored, painted, and drew,

Using me to steady their hand

My surface once covered with pencils and crayons,

Now covered in dust

As the years went on, the children left

In their place came older, indifferent ones.

Math, English, history, science

Once again, I was covered in papers.

My legs once holding up the tired heads of late night studies

Now lay broken and bent.

Time passed as it always does.

No more pictures.

No more homework.

No more visitors.

Time stands still now,

As I sit in this dark corner

Surfaces covered in dust

Legs bent and broken

Remembering the days long since past.
