Extra O(r)dinary Story Part1
Return To Reality
Ep: 35
Eril’s clone stood at the peak of the castle overlooking the execution grounds. Beneath was Eril hung on a giant stand half consciously crying to herself. Was she crying for her friends to save her or was she crying at the mistakes she made? That was not important as her clone could feel the end drawing near. The imperfection of this clone was the weak seal linked with Evil Lord. Once this battle is over, so would her life.
---
Chen Yi floated right before them like a refined general. Never in his imagination had Jit Meng thought they would meet like this. This little twist in fate is what they see all the time in video games. Now, it was on them. How were they going to win were beyond their imagination. Survival was their utmost priority.
Years of training and experience gave Eric and Ee Hwa the upper hand. With the souls as support, they could easily win any battle. However throughout history, Evil Lord had always been defeated by all six MEG weapons. They only had three now, giving them a clear disadvantage. Should they lose, they lose everything. That made them tensed as they were constantly reminded the price to pay.
“Don’t worry,” Ee Hwa assured, “I know what to do.”
Eric’s mind went blank. Her words sounded as if she decided on a suicide mission.
As Eric turned to look at her, she sped forward with a series of normal attacks. None of them worked as Evil Lord was defended by some shield. He knew what she was planning and he was not going to let her succeed.
“Cannon’s on!” Eric summoned twin barrel Gatling guns on both hands. Taking aim slightly off her, he squeezed the trigger.
This tactic had always worked for them. She attacks from the back while he attack from the front. With his aim slightly off, the bullets would drive into the target while avoiding harm on Ee Hwa. If this does not work, he would resort to use the rocket launcher --- the most devastating weapon in his arsenal. If that fails, they would have to hope a miracle happens.
Indeed after a while the shield still remained. Evil Lord did not counter much as if he was confident that it would not break. Eric summoned the rocket launcher taking aim. Once Ee Hwa leaves the scene, he would squeeze the trigger. Taking a deep breath, he waited. Every second felt like hours as he was pumped with fear. This was one battle they could not afford to lose.
“Holy Symbol!” Jit Meng yelled as a large, burning symbol pressed into Evil Lord. The white flames engulfed him totally as he groaned in pain.
Ee Hwa at the back shielded her face from the heat with an arm. She was surprised at how the tides have turned unexpectedly. Once the flames died down she would attack in full force while the others take care of the front, she thought. With this barrage of attacks, Evil Lord would not stand a chance against them.
Jit Meng leaped to where Evil Lord was and slashed before the flames went down. “Deadly Disaster!”
A diagonal mini tornado formed as the slash threw him into it. Thunder strike into the tornado, followed by a manifested tsunami that came behind Jit Meng. As the tidal waves were totally sucked into it, a series of avalanche continued to pour inside. The grounds trembled hard as a volcano erupted beneath them. Hot lava flowed right into tornado causing even more damage. As everything subsided, Evil Lord’s body was thrown back on the floor.
“We have done our part,” a voice of mix gender said from Jit Meng’s mouth.
The fight continued. Jit Meng charged on with a few Jit’s Rage while Ee Hwa did some close range Atmospheric Blasting. Being confined in limited space, Evil Lord attempted to escape but was hindered by Jit Meng’s attacks and blasted in the head by Ee Hwa. The concussion affected his judgement so he forced to break free with ‘Dark Wave’.
Within the radius blast Ee Hwa and Jit Meng were inflicted with suffocation thus stunning them. Morph continued to distract him while Eric manoeuvres about to avoid any ranged attacks. Ee Hwa and Jit Meng recovered after sometime as they joined in the fight. Evil Lord became more agile, avoiding their attacks in all directions countering with different dark megic.
Eric assisted in casting 'Buckler' to improve defence while the three continued to assault in close range. As their formation was breaking up, Eric yelled for all of them to disperse. Ee Hwa and Morph were both to fly out of space leaving Jit Meng. He was not used to their fighting style. Then, before Eric could launch his attack, Ee Hwa threw an Atmospheric Ball to push him away.
Equipping his whole body with missile launchers, he locked on target waiting for everyone to stay out of danger zone. "Missile Barrage!" Small and medium sized missiles charged towards Evil Lord fiercely. Most of them exploded on him while others ran into the structures behind. As the cloud of dust slowly dispersed, a huge guillotine crashed into Evil Lord.
He lied motionlessly. As the others were putting their guard down, he levitated himself up into the sky and shot down a rain of droplets. “Dark Rain!”
When the droplets came in contact, all of them were inflicted with different abnormal Physical statuses. None of them could move an inch of their muscle. It was the end.
“No, you promised to lend me power ...” Jit Meng mumbled to himself.
“I wouldn’t let myself die anyway.”
As Evil Lord charged down at high speed, Jit Meng blocked a deadly blow with his blade, still crawling. Then pushed away with a Flaming Rage followed by a Piercing Wave. That feeling came back. The need to kill, to make others bleed and the need to hear his opponent scream in agony came back. He forced himself up ready to face Evil Lord again despite the irregular breathing and pain in his chest.
“You’re killing yourself,” Evil Lord replied scornfully.
As if proving him wrong, white feathers descended from the skies, curing everyone’s statuses. It was the feather of life. Eric was distressed to see that. Ee Hwa had already activated the Dragon Spirit.
“Dragon Aura!”
An enlarged image of dragon wings formed above the skies. A rain of feathers float to the battle scene. Soon, the grounds were decorated with white feathers. Everyone was back in shape again as they brace themselves for another round. Electrifying bolts encircled Ee Hwa as she levitated off the ground. When everyone was cured, she opened her arms for another attack.
“Dragon Claw!”
A translucent image of a dragon’s head manifest behind Evil Lord as giant claws dived mercilessly into him. The claws danced with Ee Hwa’s arms, slicing him a few times before she fell back onto the ground. A rocket rammed into Evil Lord giving him no chance of recovering. The explosion sent his body flying away while Morph caught up to continue with her Spiral Dance attack. As she encircled him with different attacks, his body lifted off the ground slowly.
Having enough, Evil Lord pummelled into Morph’s face throwing her away. Jit Meng charged in with flurry, confusing his opponent for a while. When he saw the chance, Evil Lord was once again levitated into mid air with a burning lock in his abdomen. Two flaming swords with ancient inscription formed as they pierced through the body. Then came the burning spear that forced through it. When the animation was over, Evil Lord fell.
He could not recover after receiving that much damage. Jit Meng stepped onto his chest with blade held high. A fire ball was slowly formed at the tip as he yelled ‘Flamble’. As the sword buried itself into the ground, a force threw the blade away. Hissing with defiance, he saw Eric with a rifle aiming at him. Evil Lord took this chance to escape. Jit Meng charged at Eric bare handed in fury.
Eric wrestled with him for a while, tangled in some mess. Without the sword he was still as strong as ever. His need to kill did not subside. For the first time, Eric was afraid of Jit Meng. Every breath he puffed into his face smelled of vengeance. Every single growl sounded like an animal. That time in Yliean he thought this was Jit Meng’s inner potential. Today he took a hard lesson.
Sweeping his leg away, Eric somersault some distance away to activate another weapon. It was a missile pod. If he used this on him results would be devastating. As he hesitated, Jit Meng charged on again determined to tear his limbs apart. Tensing up at his own next move, Eric froze. No matter what he could not fire. If he did it would cause permanent damage.
“Grah!” Jit Meng jumped into the air with outstretched arms.
Next moment a figure flew right into him. It was Morph in her sword dancer form still. With agile movements she performed a Mind-sleep dance around him. Jit Meng was confused by all the random dance steps circling him. Soon, he fell asleep. It worked like a charm. Morph returned to her normal form as everything was over. Eric embraced her tightly as she too fell to the fatigue.
They won the battle, but at what price?
The world was saved. Eril was unconscious for unknown reasons. Ee Hwa’s life was still on the line. Jit Meng fell asleep. Morph was badly hurt. Eric looked blankly at the battlefield as credits rolled across the screen.

“I wish.” Eric stood up and got a hold of himself. The fight was over, the aftermath was not. He was the only one to clean up the mess. When he thought back, he snickered at Nilrem’s column.
“Eric!” Neko ran into the scene with the other Gods.
Micheal attended to Ee Hwa when he saw her lying there. After some simple examinations, he fed her a pill. That meant she would live. Saine retrieved Eril’s body and did some examinations as well. He beckoned to his brother shaking his head. Things were bad. However they survived, that was worth it.
“Morph’s sleeping like a baby,” Neko commented.
Carrying Morph in his arms, Eric rose as he walked towards the Gods. He was too overwhelmed for any words. Nothing could describe what he felt now. The Gods simply pat his shoulders saying everything was over. They arranged a carrier to send them back to the cottage. That was what he needed right now.
---
Jit Meng woke up with a headache. Feeling lazy to get up, he lied in the bed further. Eric yelled from the outside that made him jump out of the bed. He staggered towards the living room where he leaned against the table sloppily. Evil Lord was already dead, there was no reason to wake up so early. Instead, he got another scolding from Eric. Feeling frustrated he talked back. A pain slowly built up from his thighs that made him jump.
“Yikes!” Jit Meng screamed. “Okay, okay! I’m awake now, what?” He looked at his attacker. It was Morph. She pouted angrily.
Eric snickered.
It was lunch. Everyone waited at the table for him. When he looked around, he saw Ee Hwa in simple clothing. Was their fight truly over?
“Oh no! I prepared a share less!” Eric slapped his forehead.
Jit Meng and Ee Hwa’s eyes landed on the last plate.
Guess not.
Both their hands strike at the plate. They deflected each other’s blows and attempted to reach the plate in vain. After a while, Ee Hwa snatched the food away with a ‘look behind’ distraction. Jit Meng sighed at his silliness to fall for such an old trick. Instead of eating it, she separated half the food on another plate saying he would share with Morph. She was too sick to consume normal food right now.
Jit Meng took a good look at his friend. Her face was pale and weak. Something happened to her. He asked Excalibur but there was no reply. The warrior souls had left them. He paused to recall what had happened so far.
During the final fight Ee Hwa had activated some inner powers. That explained her state right now. As for him, unpleasant memories of turning evil flooded in. He could remember every moment of it. That kind of feeling would never be forgotten. After he defeated Evil Lord he attempted to kill Eric. If not for whatever hit him from behind, they would not be sitting together for a meal now.
Eric pat his shoulders. “It’s over now.”
Jit Meng looked at him blankly. “It is ...?”
Eril was saved. However Evil Lord cast some sort of seal on her that made her sleep. Not even the Gods knew what was going on. Right now, they could only wait.
“What do we do now?”
Odin wanted an audience with them. Due to Ee Hwa’s state, it had to be postponed. Eric reckoned once Odin says what he wanted to, they were free to leave. On a brighter note, Micheal was positive of Ee Hwa’s condition and said she would recover within three days. Morph seemed to have accepted Jit Meng as well, that was good news. Everyone was well, except Eril. Though dying to return home, he could not put his heart down.
“You know,” Eric randomly started a conversation. “Morph was badly hurt yesterday. If Neko hadn’t pulled some strings, the God of Megic would not have healed her so quickly.”
“Oh wait,” Jit Meng interrupted, “why weren’t you hurt?”
Eric shurgged, “I’m an Earth elemental, my defences are impenetrable.”
Jit Meng was taken aback by his words. He almost sensed sarcasm in it.
---
Two days later when Ee Hwa fully recovered, they were called up for an audience. For the first time up in Atlantis, Jit Meng was silenced by the awe of the place. The majesty of the structures left him speechless. Would this be how their own heaven look like?
Odin sat on his throne as usual while the Gods lined up two sides to welcome them. Eric took the lead. When he kneeled, Jit Meng did the same. Then came Odin’s long speech of victory. Jit Meng was not listening at all. He waited till the God touched on their matters his attention returned.
“Here I present you a token of appreciation,” He began. “This coin here have the ability to brainwash those around you so they wouldn’t notice your change.”
“So that’s how they were going to explain how they got so fit in ‘one day’,” Jit Meng thought.
“Eric, for your contribution I grant you permission to take care of Morph. Morph like all of you, shall enjoy the privileges of travelling to and fro this world without restrictions. Ee Hwa and Jit you will receive your gift when you return next time.”
They were dismissed after that. As they exit the main hall, Jit Meng was stopped by one of the Goddesses. Said she wanted to talk. Jit Meng shrugged and beckoned his friends to leave without him. So, they made way to her chambers where they could have a nice chat. He felt all nervous when entering her room. This was the first time he entered a female’s room, let alone a Goddess.
“I’m Erin, the Goddess of disguise,” she introduced. “You don’t remember me do you?”
“Uh ...”
She turned into a mare. This brought back fond memories of his days in CY. He was shocked and amazed to find out he had been riding on a Goddess all these while. Then, she continued to reveal another disguises he did not notice --- the merchant who sold him a bottle of healing water. She goes by the name of ‘nameless’ as a signature of her in disguise. After a short conversation, she presented him a small ornament that boosts the power of illusion. Sirch’s illusional power was only visual. This artefact adds physical depth into them.
“Simply put, it solidifies your illusions making it harder to tell which one’s real.”
After the short conversation he was guided to the exit where he headed back to the cottage. An old man was waiting for him. His name was ‘Nilrem’, a great sorcerer of his time. Now he became an immortal working under the Gods. He was the one who invented these teleporting machines by hand.
Nilrem guided him to another room where another teleporter was. He said this one could bring him home. The teleporter was a simple machine with a weird looking standing pad and ceiling pad. All wires were connected to a control station. This control station is where it controls which dimension it opens.
He punched the teleporter’s keypad in certain sequence to activate a portal.
“Well? This is your way home, do you want to go now?”
Jit Meng stared into the swirling portal and mused. This was his one way ticket home. Home where he belongs.
“Home ...”
