I spent the night sleepless again;
the hours ticked by unnoticed
and I lied in tortured tossing,
thinking that soon I'd fall asleep.
I thought of how you hurt me and
I spent the night sleepless again.
The pain held open my eyelids
and sleep laughed at me from the door
in a chilling voice just like yours.
My blankets tried to strangle me.
I spent the night sleepless again
because they let me live instead.
I almost wish they'd succeeded
in tangling until I passed out.
Then I'd be less tired, but no,
I spent the night sleepless again.
A/N: While it's true, I've been having trouble sleeping, this poem is not true. No one has caused me pain, and my blankets aren't trying to kill me.
