Trifold
Destiny
Introduction
At the beginning of time, the Master Powers wrote out the laws of the Multi-verse. It was written that there would be an on going battle between good and evil. On each side would be an All-Powerful Trio and their Magical Warriors, the Guardians of Good, and the Hellhounds of Evil. Each side had a magical totem, which was the focus of their power. The Guardians had the Amulet of Light, a small crystal disk, which was cast in the finest silver, and blessed by a thousand spells. The Hellhounds had the Ring of Darkness, which was forged in the fires of Hell. It was worn on the finger of the most power full of the Hellhounds.
The Guardians and Hellhounds were given 50 human lifetimes to wage their war. After that, they would pass their powers on to a new generation, for the Battle Between Good and Evil, is never ending. The Apocalyptic Battle ended with the Trinity and their Evil counterparts perishing at the mercy of two spells in equal strength being cast at the same time. The Amulet was broken into three pieces. The Ring was cast aside, as it’s wearer turned to dust. A dying Trinity Warrior found the Amulet pieces, and blessed them to been hidden away, only to be found be the True Heirs to the Power. A lesser Demon rescued the Ring, and cursed it to be fought over, until it’s rightful heir was hatched. Just before she died, the Warrior spelled the Ring and Amulet so that there full Powers could not be accessed until both were worn by their Heirs. Of course, the True Heirs must come into power first…
Chapter 1-Average, ordinary punks
San Francisco, California, Present dayAlex’s eyes scanned the page of her science book, not really reading the words. It’s not that she didn’t like science, or was distracted, but the subject was not particularly interesting. After giving up on actually absorbing the information her textbook had to offer, she glanced around the room in boredom. Her eyes landed one of her best friends, David. who had found a new use for his text. A pillow. She poked him, “David!” She whispered. “Dave! You’re drooling!”
His head shot of the book, “Elephants!” he shouted, about as loud as he possibly could. Everyone laughed. Looking around, David blushed, as he realized he had been sleeping in class.
Their teacher cleared his throat, “ Mr. Jefferson, what do you have to say for yourself?”
David thought for a minute, “Uhh…oops?” The whole class laughed.
Mr. Alfonzo wasn’t amused. “How about, ‘I’m sorry MR. Alfonzo. I’ll never do it again?’”
“But, I probably will, so, that would be a lie, and lying is wrong,” David explained. He wasn’t the brightest person around.
Mr. Alfonzo wasn’t pleased.
“I can’t believe that fucker gave me a detention!” David fumed as he, Alex and their best friend, Lia, plodded slowly to their advanced Literature class.
“For sleeping in class or ‘talking back,’” Lia asked, attempting to snatch the detention from David’s hand.
He held it above his head, out of her reach, “Talking back,” he grumbled, looking at the detention and sighing. “This sucks major ass.”
Alex and Lia slipped their arms around his shoulders and leaned their heads on him. “Cheer up, bud,” Alex smiled. “It’s just a detention.”
David sighed again, and slipped his arms about his friends waists. “You’re right, “ He said brightly. “I won’t let it bring me down!” The three friends laughed and walked off to class.
Alex Wyatt, David Jefferson, and Lia Martin have known each all their lives, and have always been inseparable. David is the eldest by three days, and the tallest, standing 6’3”. Then came Alex, three days later and three inches shorter, odd how life works like that. Three days after Alex, comes Lia, who is three inches shorter than Alex. Do you see a pattern emerging? Ha, yes, they are all three days and three inches apart. Things have always been in threes. Three birthdays. Three report cards. Three cars at their joint Sweet 16. Three of pretty much everything. By strange chance, they’re always in the same classes, or on the same teams. They do have other friends, but mostly hang out with each other.
About two months prior to this event, the children had unearthed three necklaces in Alex’s Attic. They turned them into a mark of their friendship, and have worn them ever since.
Mrs. Smith’s Advanced English classDavid, Alex and Lia took their seats. The class settled in around them. Chelsea Pierce, one of the popular kids who were actually a really cool person, sat next to Alex. Alex looked up at her and said, “Hey, Chels, sup?”
“You three need more friends,” Chelsea responded.
Alex was taken slightly aback, “I, uh, well, what?”
“You need more friends,” She repeated.
“Uh, why?”
“Oh, it’s always just you three, and I thought ya’ll’d like more friends?
“Chelsea, has anyone every told you, you have the weirdest logic EVER?” Chelsea laughed and turned to talk to her friend, Lindsey. At that moment, Mrs. Smith emerged from the back of the room, and sat in her comfy chair at the front of the room. Eric Boor raised his hand.
Mrs. Smith ignored him, “For all of you who are just dying to tell me what happen with David in Mr. Alfonzo’s class, I already know, and have this to say,” she paused and turned to David. “Don’t ever fall asleep in my class.”
“Oh, never Mrs. Smith,” David promised sincerely. “I don’t trust you.” The whole class laughed, knowing David was being absolutely honest, and not really trying to be funny.
Later that day, the three 17-year-olds were driving home in Alex’s Mustang, chattering about random things. As they pulled up outside Alex’s house, the conversation died, as they noticed Alex’s front door laying wide open.
“What the fuck?"
