Forest: LOOOOOK! CHAPTER! WOOHOO!OMG, guys I am sooooo sorry this took so long! -glomps you all for being good fans- Anyway, I've been working on three new stories coming soon to a website near you, and I had been kind of slacking off on this one, but last night I told myself I'd get this up before I had to go back to school. I go back a week from tomorrow, and I have two more books to read, so I'll be doing that for the next few days. After school starts up, well, I don't know how much time I'll have to write, because I'm going into a medical program. Anyway...
David: This chapter was so unbareablly emotional, Forest almost died writing it.
Devon: -wanders out of nowhere- WARNING This chapter features shitty french translations. If they're wrong blame the French Translator, Lia, and Jenna.
Forest: So now, without further adieu, CHAPTER 8!!!
Chapter
8-
Simple Plan for Simple Minds
As we ate, David and I discussed some of the various random acts of insanity our friends had committed. I was relating the story of when the guys had chased the girls through an airport in Canada with silly string and almost got us kicked out, when David interrupted me.
“Wait, who’s this Chris guy you’re talking about?” He asked. “You haven’t mentioned him before.”
I put my fork down and bit my lip. I had been afraid he would ask that. It was still rather painful to talk about. But, I knew I had to get over it. I could talk about it with David. I’m not sure why it was easier to talk to him, but it was.
I sighed. “Chris was my first boyfriend. I know this is gonna sound stupid. We were together for a year and a half in high school, which is a long time for a high school relationship. Then, in the middle of our senior year, his parents dragged him out to California. I haven’t heard from him since.” I laughed. “God, I must sound so stupid.”
David shook his head. “You still love him?”
I opened my mouth to speak, and then closed it again. Did I? Just because I had never actually found someone to replace Chris didn’t mean I still loved him. For all I knew, he’d already moved on. I looked at David. “No, I just…Never found the guts to try love again.” I chuckled bitterly at the though. “In fact, this is the closest thing to a date I’ve been on in years.”
David smiled. “Well, then, I must be pretty damn sexy!” I laughed. He was really. Suddenly, he stopped smiling. “No, but seriously, Alex, you’re too young to give up on love. You’ve got an amazing personality and the looks to match. Don’t give up yet. There’s someone out there for you, and you’ll find him eventually.”
I smiled warmly at him. “Thanks, David. Something that heartfelt and serious must have been hard for you.” He kicked me under the table.
LaterDavid insisted on walking me to my car. It was during a lull in the conversation, just as we entered the parking garage that I wondered exactly how it was that he was going to get back to where ever it was he had to get back to. Then I began to wonder where it was that he had to go back to. Then he was waving his hand in my face. I looked at him, “What?”
“You seemed confused,” David responded.
I raised my eyebrow at him. “Not confused, just…curious.”
He titled his head to the side. “About what?”
I sighed, “Where are you staying?”
“Our bus is currently parked outside the closest hotel to the airport.” He sighed, then his face lit up like he had just found a cure for cancer. “I have an idea!” He exclaimed.
I gasped. “The fabric of the universe is ripping! David has an idea!” He scowled, and kicked me. “Ow. Fine, what’s your idea?”
His face lit up again. “You can drive me back to the bus, then, you can come in and meet the guys!”
I stopped walking. “W-what?!” He looked confused and opened his mouth to repeat himself. I stopped him. “Yes, I know what you said. You-“ I pointed to him. “Want me-" I pointed at myself. “To go to your bus and meet your friends.” He nodded. “Oh, Kami.”
He cocked his head to the side. “What’s wrong?”
“I can’t do that!!” I exploded.
“I-I don’t understand,” David said, taking a step back.
I have no idea why I was so upset. Maybe it was shock. No. I knew what it was. It was fear. I shook my head. “I’m sorry, I just can’t do that. I’ll drive you but I’m not going in with you.”
David looked at me oddly. “They’re not going to bite, ya know. Okay, Pierre might, but we can lock him in the bathroom.”
I laughed slightly. “I’m still not going in with you,” He sighed but didn’t press the issue. “Now,” I said, looking around. “Where’s my car?”
He shrugged. “I’ve never seen your car.”
I gave him a Look. “That was a rhetorical question, actually,” He looked confused. I had begun to expect this in him. I waved my hand dismissively. “LOOK!” I shouted gleefully, pointing out my red RX8 against a row of black minivans.
David looked at me, “How did you not see that?”
“Shut up, you didn’t see it either,” I retorted. He sputtered indignantly. Giggling at his reaction, I punched his arm playfully, “Oh, I was just messin’ with ya. Come on; let’s get out of here. Parking garages give me the creeps.” I began walking towards my car, and he followed like a lost puppy.
10 Minutes LaterDavid is the most useless person when it comes to giving directions. “Ok, “I interjected. “This will be much easier if you just tell me the name of the hotel you’re…staying…outside of.” He opened and closed his mouth a few times before giving me a sheepish look. “You don’t remember do you?” When he shook his head, I sighed and handed him my cell phone. “Call someone.” He nodded and took the phone.
Flipping it open, he punched a few numbers and held the phone to his ear. Somehow he must have turned on the speakerphone, because the next thing I heard was ringing then, “Hello, Chuck’s cell phone, Jeff speaking.”
“Jeff?!” David asked incredulously. “Why are you answering Chuck’s phone?” I snickered.
“Well, he’s in the place, so I figured I’d do him a favor,” Jeff responded, simply.
“Right,” David said, slowly. “What place?”
“The hotel.”
“Which hotel?” I grinned Very smooth, David, I thought.
Jeff cackled. “You forgot didn’t you?” He asked David, still laughing. David murmured an embarrassed conformation and Jeff cackled more. “You little Moron.”
“Je ne suis pas un crétin!” David shouted into the phone.
“Vous savez que je ne fais pas d'attention à où ils nous ont le départ!” I am not a moron! You know I don’t pay attention to where they have us going!
Jeff laughed again. “You seemed pretty excited when they told us we were coming to Florida.”
“C'était différent,” David muttered. That was different.
“This is getting us nowhere,” I grumbled, snatching the phone away from David. Ignoring his protests, I first turned off the speakerphone, then pressed the phone to my ear, “Hello? Jeff? Hi. This is Alex.”
“Hi...Alex,” Jeff said, confused.
“First things first, David is not a moron,” David gave me a startled look, and Jeff began to disagree. I ignored them both. “Next, if you ever want to see your bassist again, you will tell me where you’re staying outside of.”
“What are you holding him ransom?” Jeff asked, amused.
“No,” I retorted. “But he doesn’t know, and I don’t either, so if I don’t know where to take him, I’m keeping him. I’m sure he’d go for a good bit on EBAY.” David gave me a horrified look. Jeff cracked up, and proceeded to tell me where they were.
After I had hung up the phone, David asked, “How did you know he called me a moron?”
“A)” I held up one finger, “I speak French fluently. B),” I held up another finger, “You had the speaker phone on dumbass.”
“Oh…” Was all he said.
15 minutes later
I pulled up into the parking lot of the Marriot hotel. “I don’t see your bus,” I stated bluntly.
David blinked at me. “Well, it’ll be around back or something. We’ll probably have to go in and ask.”
“Oy, you’re going to make me get out of this car aren’t you?” I groaned. He pulled his sunglasses down in response. “Ugh, fiiine. But I’m not coming on the bus with you.”
He grinned evilly. “We’ll see about that.” I suddenly had a very bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.
After ducking and weaving to avoid anybody who looked under 18, David and I had managed to find out where the bus was and were walking towards it. I stopped about 20 feet away, wary of what David had up his sleeve. “K, this is where I take my le-AHHH! OH MY GOD! DAVID PUT ME DOWN NOW!” He had hoisted me over his shoulder and was carrying me towards the bus. “David! Seriously, put me down NOW!” I began kicking and punching his back.
He simply wrapped one arm around my legs and chuckled. “That feels rather good, Alex. I haven’t had a massage in ages.” I glared at his butt, and resigned myself to my fate.
Once inside the bus, he put me down. The first thing I did, after glaring daggers at him, was kick him in the balls rather hard. He collapsed, wheezing. I smirked.
“Haha, nice move, babe,” I felt an arm slide around my shoulders. I looked up into Pierre’s face. “How bout showing me some of your other moves?”
Two seconds later, Pierre had joined David. Laughter came from my right. Turning I saw Sebastien, and his girlfriend Jamie, sitting on the couch like thing. “You’re Alex, I take it,” Seb laughed grinning.
I nodded. “Sebastien and Jamie, right?” They nodded.
“What’s all the noise about?” a voice asked from the back of the bus, presumably the bunk area.
“David’s new friend is kicking David and Pierre’s asses!” Seb called, smirking.
“Really? I wanna see!” Jeff bounded up to the front of the bus. Once he spotted David and Pierre still moaning and clutching their balls he pointed at them and laugh. “This chick’s got attitude!”
“Um, Jeff, I’d stay away from her if I was you,” Seb advised. Jeff nodded and backed up.
Suddenly, the door burst open and a very irritated looking chuck walked in, his right arm in a sling. “They still won’t give us a room.”
“Dude, are you serious?!” Pierre gasped from the floor. “What the Fuck is up with this?”
“I dunno, man, but I am so sick and tired of this bus,” Chuck sighed.
I sat there, an idea forming in my head. My house was big. One could go so far as to call it huge. There were lots of rooms. Only three of them were being occupied. Okay, Haven was moving in the next day, so that makes four, but Rose could move in with Billy. I spoke up, “Hey, where’s all your roadies and stuff?”
They looked at me. “Uh, we’re down here for photo shoots and stuff, so they get the month off,” chuck answered. I nodded. “Why?”
“Well, I have an idea as to your lodging arrangements…”
