A Little Wolf
A twisted game of moves and mind,
While two pairs of eyes in feral glare
Size up the other like pray they'd find,
A full moon hangs heavy in the air.
The dance of two who lived for the chase,
And all the thoughts that were never said,
The secrets hidden in this place,
Were loud enough to wake the dead.
Others noticed and watched the game
As both contestants drowned in strategy.
Hiding truth with no reason or blame
In their battle lacking chastity.
Feelings thrown by tooth or claw
And mystery used as weapon's choice,
As two potentials with moves too raw,
Fought to give their emotions voice.
Both entered new and barely broken,
And left both scarred and hurting,
If only openness was spoken,
Vanished' be the gloom was lurking.
Both sad at what had ended wrong,
Both unaware to what had birthed it,
Reprieves for the game written in this tear-streaked song,
And all she said was IT WAS WORTH IT.
