Stairway to Mortality (Gun)

AN: Written for a poetry contest at zenhex. Com. I'm not sure if anyone else will pick up on my imagery, it's a tad subtle (IE where I refer to the drug Xstasy). If anyone would like to offer constructive criticism, please do so! I WANT TO IMPROVE!!

Another bright-eyed whore stares me in the eyes
“One more time, just for kicks?”
Stairway to mortality
We trip together, another batch of X-quisite treachery
No more drugs for me, love
I’ll be leaving you tonight

Blue-eyed fantasies stalk my dreams
Dreadlocks of insincerity
“So sorry to wander, my dear”
Sickly-sweet corruptions of honest spite
I always knew you were glaring behind your makeup

One more time, and I’ve given up
Glass slipper for another soul
Your empty eyes disregard my presence
Barrel meets ivory-slicked skin
And I’m sorry to mention that I’ve lost my train of thought
It lies along the wall behind the sofa.
