AN: Also written for a poetry contest at zenhex. com, or more specifically to attempt to enter the Morbid Poet's Society! Wish me luck, results are back June 10. Generally, this is a reflection upon the inspiration I have from reading the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

Inspiration of a Lovecraft

Scores of disregard
Torn from bedraggled fingertips
Float across the strings of your violin
A haunting tune behind harmonic ecstasy
Even Erich Zann would be dismayed

Risen bodies strewn across your feet
Peddlers of love and lust
Unwittingly contributing to sensual chaos
Eyes so beautifully stilled by time
Perfection etched into her face
Time shalt not whither this purity
Fantasies of Lovecraft

Nyarlathotep has stolen my visions
Wisdom of solitude betrays me
Only in a nightmare would you appear
Upheaval of my dreams
A restful screaming as is sworn, inept of words
You could only understand my raucous laughter
Whose mind could you inhabit but my own?

Screeching chords engulf my magnanimity
Siren’s song to a deceived perception
Agreement strikes; made concrete
You may have my lover tonight
Tomorrow I shall steal her back
Freshly embalmed, pristine as ever
