Dear, Spider.

“Dear, Spider;

Why do you spin your web so?”

- With lines of liquid silver you weave,

Well into the eve,

Until your greatest foe is a doe.

Spinning, spinning, spinning,

Like a falling silver star,

"Dear, Spider;

Why do you spin your web so?"

Whoever you are.

"Dear, Spider;

Why do you kill so?"

- Hanging, weaving, biting now.

Sticky fingers on a sticky foe,

With beads of sweat across your brow.

Tearing, tearing, tearing,

Destroying your silver home.

"Dear, Spider;

Why do you kill so?"

“Because it’s all I’ve ever known.”
