I will live by the sea
and hear the waves murmuring
their eternal secrets as
they die gently upon the shore;
I will see the sun setting
and its face reflected in those cerulean waters.
I will live by the mountains,
and see their dazzling white faces
present a challenge—
a dare I can’t refuse;
I will see the ocean reflecting that challenge
and I will know, despite their taunts, that I am at peace here.
I will leave this place eventually—
Someday I will say farewell
But today, I am at peace
And I know they are my friends;
I hold out my hand, and, with it,
hold out my heart.
