Where is my companion

Lamentation?

I knew him in the frosty dawn

When all the earth was glass,

And hearing a sparrow’s call,

Drowned my eyes away.

I saw him also

In a vision,

Where dusting craters echoed off

The joyless wilted laughs.

And reverberating off sunken walls

I heard my cousin’s tears.

A bittersweet and luminous hour,

Full of sprites’ songs,

And whenever I smiled in the moon glow,

I met his sullen gaze enmeshed in howls

From behind a garden tree.
