Dancing

He stands there with his boyish grin

the one that makes you melt

Your heart begins to beat faster

as you walk across the room

He draws you into his arms when you reach him

The music is playing; the spotlight’s on you two

You let the music flow through you

The other couples watch in awed silence

as he leads you around the dance floor

As the song nears its end, far too soon for your liking

he stops dancing and tells you

that he never wants to dance

with anyone else ever again, for as long as he lives

He then gets down on one knee

and slips onto your hand a simple but beautiful

silver diamond ring, and asks you the question

that you’ve been wishing to hear from his lips

And all you can say is let’s dance

as the smile it your eyes gives him the answer
