Ineoil is a world of my creating, a land of fantasy and magick. It is a world of great nations and even greater heroes. Though they are remembered and immortalized as just fair, and brave they were but real people with doubts and fears called into a higher purpose... Though I really have no idea where I want to go with it, I decided at least to write a story about the origin of one of the organizations that I'm most fond of...as it is I may post more stories based on the world, but I'd at least like to finish this one...

Prologue

They had come as was expected...

From the east the soft calls of birds echoed through the sea of trees. It was an odd call, one not native to the forests of Kilnaur. Terial knew that someone in the king’s party would find it amiss, likely the scouts, but he hoped for that. Their investigation will allow them their opening. He just hoped it all went as he planned.

Slowly he raised a hand, and pointed north, though he really didn’t need to, as the others with him knew where to go and they nodded, and one by one they disappeared, lost in the greens of the foliage. They were the best the Twilight Eye-at least what was left of it-had to offer, and they knew what they had to do, but still Terial was nervous, and he felt it as his clammy hands clutched the bow he held. He waited for a few minutes, and he himself started on his way. He was to catch up with the rest. He just hoped the results would be for the better-for all their, and that of the two kingdoms’, sake...

With each step his heart beat loudly. A slew of emotions were creeping up on him. This was it, he thought. This would be the end of everything. He had seen long years of fighting, first for the Lyrian army and then for the Twilight Eye, lost so much, and had his view and faith shaken, and this was it… No matter what would happen he was seeing an end. He sighed tiredly at the thought, but hope filled him all the same. It was hope that finally he could have rest.

His thoughts fell on his fallen comrades in the order. Especially to them, to the ones he had met on those fateful days. They, the ten of them were responsible for everything that was to end with this day. Their memories saddened him though. To think that he, the least worthy of all, was to see the conclusion of everything. Then end to all the suffering and sorrow.

He looked to either side. Already it was starting. Jerrick was working on hiding away the bodies of the scouts. Only two, Terial noted. Again he gave the signal. It had started now, and they had little time to prepare.

The war had been fought long enough....
