Last time I walked these streets

I was 18 years old

Looking up at the sky

Out I’d cry

To stars of silver gold

Told myself then and there

I wasn’t coming back here

Not for any holiday

I’m going far away

And burying my pain and fear

But here I am…

Chorus:

But here I am anyway

Came back home today

Walking along in my city

Too many memories I can’t forget

I’m not ready to leave just yet

Now I’m back

Back in my city

Henry and Trish got married

They’ve got a daughter now

Sherri became an author

Kirsten’s an animator

Each got their dream jobs somehow

Sarah’s in a famous band

And Tara’s art is world known

Both have families

They’re happy hopefully

If they’re not it isn’t shown

And they’re all still here…

Chorus:

But here I am anyway

I’m home today

Walking along in my city

Too many memories I can’t forget

I’m not ready to leave just yet

Now I’m back

Back in my city

Bridge:

Now I follow these streets again

And gaze upon my old house

Remembering life here

It’s so strange to be at my old house

Life has changed since then

I’m older, wiser, and braver

Leaving here was a hard choice to make

Probably my biggest lifesaver

But it's good to come back…

Chorus:

But here I am anyway

I’m home today

Walking along in my city

Too many memories I can’t forget

I’m done here, but I won’t leave yet

Last time I walked these streets

All I wanted was to leave this place

But now I see my childhood

In my old neighborhood

The memoirs I don’t want to erase

I came back home today

Now it’s time to leave (goodbye my city)

Now that I’ve seen where everyone is

I don’t think I’m coming back again (Goodbye my city)
