I asked you for salvation,

You gave me nothing.

I asked you for protection,

Your arms refused to touch my skin.

And I wonder what I did,

To deserve the backlash.

And your anger, it whips me,

Back behind our wall of silence.

I asked you for repentance,

You did not forgive me.

I asked you to save me,

You simply walked away.

And you left me in the bitterness of snow,

Shivering in the winter nights.

But that’s something I’ve come to understand.

I cannot ask you for anything.
