The red doesn’t lie,

But I do.

I promised I would never again

Give in

To the blade.

Now I hate myself

For the weakness

That gave me the option

To bleed away my pain.

I hate the feelings

That refuse to leave

Until red runs in rivers.

I hate my cowardice,

That this time

I hid

The cuts that slash my body

So that the people I love

Don’t see them.

And I hate my lie,

Which I give

So I don’t see the fear in your eyes

When you know

That I broke my promise.
