Curtains

They ask the same questions

constantly.

Again and again

and once more.

Your answers become

a mantra

slowly you become

used to the same responses.

Stare at the curtains

watch carefully

ignore the others.

After a while you wish

that they would just

leave you alone

and let you sleep.

Then another comes forth

and gives you a list

and asks you to stop them

if you fit in with part of it.

Stare at the curtains

ignore the others

keep relaxed.

And the head honcho

finally rears his head

even though you don’t

want to see him.

You’ve seen him before

he wasn’t expecting you

to come back

again.

Stare at the curtains

keep relaxed

it’ll feel over soon.

But you did.

And he wishes you luck.

Stare at the curtains.

They pull back

wheel you away

soon you’ll be asleep

and then wake elsewhere.

It’ll feel over soon.

Around the same

curtains

and doctors.
