of red sashes and others

I stare at things and they seem pure
A white star or a rose capped in white
Plastic jewels set in black
A fan of pink and orange left open on
Images of someone who is someone else
Colors hurt and they burn
But bright pink made me sing
And I think of you sitting at home
Or in class
And one day I will show you what I see
Can you see silver reflecting my eyes?
Or glitter condensed in a tube?
When you think of me (do you?)
Can you see translucent candy
Or an old orange pumpkin I'll keep until New Year's
Then toast champagne
Thinking of you in the bubbles
Held up to the light at fine angles
And showers of crystals
I'll make a snow angel and name her for you
Put a picture in an envelope
Of me and a multifaceted
Stained-glass window
A dried blue rose and some black-gray marble
CDs of songs that I heard
That sent bells in my head loudly singing
I'm gasping for breath
Never skipping a line I think
Here I am again
Staring at a ring changing blue to light green
Shadow shining on my eyes
I feel pure and freeverse like you, only opposite
Green feathers, pink fur
Fuchsia skyscrapers
I think of an era
When you and I will paint the sky with our eyes
And the gauze of my lies
When we talk about love
Will you shed some light on what it means?
I am here staring at a fan left open
And the waxy white star
That sent me on this tangent
The watch on the chain winds down
I remember that
beauty
is only
a word.
