Caution Tape
By: Lai

He would always whisper,
"Do you know I love you?"
And he'd come to see her,
When he didn't have to.

And she'd go to sleep,
With a smile on her face,
This story's too sweet,
For such a tragic fate.

It's four in the morning,
She's still smiling,
They shatter her dreams with a shake,
They shatter her dreams awake.

And a mile away,
With caution tape and shattered glass,
Is a cold body and a nasty crash.

She wishes her kisses,
Could bring him to life,
She misses his hugs,
As she says goodbye.

She comes to school,
She's been gone for a week,
Such a beautiful face,
She doesn't speak.

And I wish I could hug the pain away.
I wish there was something I could say.
I know people die everyday,
But this one should have stayed.
