Cycles

Spring ushers forth new life

birds chirrup and flowers begin to bloom

as the sun peeks forth from behind Winter’s grey gloom

Summers months are rife

with long warming days and firecrackers that boom

and many a happily newlywed bride and groom

Autumn is the season of twilight

when witches cackle aloft in the air on their brooms

and ‘round their cauldrons chant litanies of doom

Winter, a season longest in night

when day is so short and darkness constantly looms

yet still gives way to Spring’s vibrant bloom

So thus is the cycle of life

when all seems lost and the spirit of hope is barely illumed

dig deeper and deeper still ‘til that spirit is exhumed
