Adrift... Finding Direction

Drifting alone in the big blue sea not too long ago
Terrified of chosing the "wrong direction” so I went with the currents
Along the way, I began finding pieces of me
Like wreckage floating from a ship that had been lost at sea
In the lonesome times, I found some friends
Parts of me I had thought to be dead
I’ve drifted, leisurely learning new things
While remembering experiences long forgotten
In the distance something catches my eye
Without hesitation I begin to paddle

This past year I’ve learned so much
Can appreciate my inner beauty
Learned to handle the destructive tendencies
And deal with the negative emotions
Discovered my strength,
Faced my past,
And banished most of my demons
Can stand up to what anyone has to say
For I finally know my worth

Although I don’t believe in Absolute Truth
I know I’m where I should be
What I want in my life is slowly coming into focus
Can feel it approaching with every sense of my being
The desire, the drive, the anticipation
I confidently maneuvor my craft forward
Direction doesn’t really seem to matter
For I have already begun my journey
And what an exciting journey it is!
