Dear friend of mine, this is yourself

Your very being through and through

I see your strengths and weaknesses

And know when you are blue

I see you stand for your faith

And hear the tears you cry

I see through your happy face

And see you’ve broken down inside

I see the questions weighing

And hear the answers silence

The storm is brewing in your life

And there is no shelter you can find

There is a sun in your strife

It takes away the pain

Your attention; you stray from yourself

And you put your needs away

Sometimes your chores go unfinished

Because a friend felt unworthy to live

Many times you feel trapped, between family and friend

No matter where you go, it never seems to end

You’re self-reliant

You think you can handle it yourself

You’re playing tug-of-war with God

You’re trying to take control

God is the captain of this ship

He’ll direct you through the storm

Trust and put your faith in Him

And he will lead you home
