Prologue

In the world, there are eight different species: the Humans, the Shifters, the four different Element Holders, Demons, and Magic users. Each species has many subspecies. I will list some of the more common ones.

Humans: No special features or powers.
Americans, Africans, Europeans, Asians, Australians, Others.

Shifters: Human-like with the power to change into animals, willingly or not.
Lycanthropes, Born Shifters, Curst Shifters, Immortal Shifters.

Element Holders: Human-like with the power of the four ancient elements.
Born Element Holders, Curst Element Holders, Willing Element Holders.

Demons: Mainly Human-like with the power of dark.
Vampires, Goblins, Gremlins, Shades, Succubi, Incubi.

Magic Users: Mainly Human-like with the power of magic.
Witches, Wizards, Warlocks, Faeries, Elves, Pixies, Sprites, Hunters.

Many people place all the Element Holders into one category known as Elementals, but most Element Holders refuse to be classified with one of a different element.

The Element Holder’s attitudes are not unusual. Most species refuse to acknowledge other species’ existence and frown upon friendship between species. Even some subspecies refuse to be together.

Sometimes, things do happen and people of foreign species will get along and a few even develop deep relationships. They are seen as betrayers and are often hunted down and killed, especially if the relationship produced any offspring. The offspring, if they survive, are outcasts and placed in the miserable classification of Mixed.

The few that manage to survive and stay together have joined with other outcasts to create the group known as the Outside. The Outside’s job is to protect and educate any person not happy with separated species. Any species is welcome, but to date, only Shifters and Element Holders have joined. The outside was created fifty-three years ago by a Born Shifter and a Curst Element Holder of Air who were in love.
