A/N: A warning to new readers: This story needs some serious grammatical editing. Right now it’s a grammatical and spelling mess, and I’m slowly editing the chapters.

Everything I Never Knew I Always Wanted

Chapter One

"Welcome to my life"

The consistent beeping of the alarm clock woke me from my heavenly stupor. I opened my eyes hazily and looked around my room. The sunlight brushed through the sides of the curtains, letting a soft golden glow illuminate my entire room.

I groaned and grabbed the alarm clock.

“Shut up!” I yelled as if the alarm clock would stop beeping upon hearing this.

But, alas, it didn’t. I pressed the snooze button, quite annoyed by now, that it hadn’t stopped beeping.

“Oh god damn it!” I yelled and threw the alarm clock against the wall as I laid my head back on the pillow.

The smashing sound of the alarm clock hitting the wall was what got me up. I jumped up and looked at the alarm clock, well, what was left of the alarm clock.

“Oh crap.”

I heard footsteps racing towards my room.

“5….4….3….2….1” I counted and right then my older brother Nick walked in; in his arms he carried my little sister, Bridget.

“What the hell was that?” he asked

“Clock in little pieces.” Bridget said, pointing at the alarm clock on the floor.

My brother looked at the floor and then at me.

He smirked and said “You’re in deep shit when mom sees this.”

“What? The alarm was being mean!”

“What, it didn’t want to give you an extra five minutes?” he asked.

“I pressed the snooze button, but it didn’t work. And I wanted to go back to sleep for at least five more minutes! Sleep is good! Sleep is wonderful.”

“Come on, Bridget, let’s go eat breakfast.” Nick said and then whispered something into her ears. Bridget smiled and turned to look at me.

“Skye, get your ass up!” she said and giggled. Bridget might be two years old but she did know that ass was not a word a two year old should be saying.

I smiled at her and threw a pillow towards them, but, unfortunately, Nick was too fast and closed the door. The pillow hit the door and plunged to the floor.

Whoever came up with the idea of school, really, really, extra emphasis on really, sucks!

As I walked out of my room, I could smell burning bacon from the kitchen. Tyler must be cooking. Since my parents were out of town on a business meeting, they put my older twin brothers, Nick and Tyler, in charge. After brushing my teeth I headed down stairs where I greeted my family. Nick still had Bridget in his arms, and was serving pan cakes in each of the plates on the table. My sister, Tina sat on the table applying lip gloss to her lips.

Aw, aren’t they adorable at age 15; all they have on their minds are; make-up, clothes and boys? Beside her, sat my youngest brother, Marc; he had a toy car in his hands and was playing with it on the table. If mom was here, she would so not allow it.

So, as you can see, I have a lot of siblings. Let me help you make it clearer; first, the twins Tyler and Nick, age 18, graduating in about a month. Second, there’s me, Skyler, known to everyone else as Skye, age 16, turning 17 in a few weeks (15 days to be exact).

Third; Tina, I have absolutely no comment on that brat.

Fourth; Marc, the quiet one of the family, he could lock himself in his room with his toys and imagination for days, but of course mom would eventually drag him out of there and the last of the Chase clan, Bridget; age 2, the adorable one of the family with her blonde locks and deep baby blue eyes.

Yup, we were like the Brady bunch, except that we are all related and my parents are together, or like the Partridge Family, except that none of sing in a band….no wait, I guess we are like the Partridge Family. My older brothers, Tyler and Nick have a band, and their pretty good. They formed it back when they were sophomores in High School.

“We were bored and decided to start a band.” Tyler said about why they formed a band.

I have to admit, my brothers are talented. Tyler’s on the drums, banging on it like he’s transferring all his anger towards it. Nick’s on the guitar, playing along carefully as if the guitar was the most precious thing alive.

Rounding up the band are; Joe, the bassist. He’s the quiet guy of the band, but you just wait until he starts drinking. Can you say streaking? Yup, almost every time he gets drunk, he goes streaking, alone. Yes, he’s a weird fellow, but everyone loves him either way.

And last but not least, there’s Josh, the singer and occasional guitarist of the band. He’s Tyler and Nick’s best friend. They have been since the day they met in pre-school. He practically lives at my house. My parents love him as yet another son. I bet that if he was an orphan, they would probably adopt him. Yep, that’s how much they love him. Although when you get Tyler, Nick and Josh together it’s the perfect equation for trouble; all hell breaks lose. Who knows what pranks they have up their sleeves? Especially with Josh, he’s the prankster of the three of them. We always fight, and disagree on everything. He gives a sarcastic remark; I give him one right back. Sometimes I win, sometimes he wins the battle.

He and I don’t always see eye-to-eye, but he’s always fun to have around.

As I sat next to Tina and Marc, I saw that Tyler was doing double duties; he was making pancakes and talking on the phone with who I think is either our parents or his girlfriend Katie.

“Yes, babe, I know.” he said as he adjusted the phone to his ear.

Oh, yes, it was Katie, his precious Katie.

Tyler and I have always been close, I’ve been the closest with him than any of my other siblings, but since he got the new girlfriend, he forgot all about his favorite little sister. At first, when they started dating I thought, ‘Nah, this wouldn’t last longer than a month’. How wrong was I?

See, my dear brother Tyler had a reputation for never staying with a girl long enough. Every month, different hair color, different height, different name and different eye color. I used to call his girls his ‘flavor of the month’ but now, he’s been going out with Katie for more than 4 months.

Is my brother becoming the commitment type? Is he becoming, dare I say it, a man?

“I’ll see you at school. Yeah, love you too.” Tyler said as he hung up the phone.

Yup, he was in love.

I, on the other hand, was tired of guys.

To me they were all dogs, scum, idiots, bastards…well, you get the point.

My first boyfriend dumped me because of the most pathetic reason known to man. He thought I was too short for him.

My second boyfriend dumped me because I didn’t have the ‘social standards’ most girls at our school have. At my school, social standards are considered; big boobs, big ass, and having a different boyfriend each week. Basically; a slut.

My last boyfriend, we broke up, we’ll because he cheated on me with the school bitch. Yeah, I was heartbroken. Yeah, I’m still heartbroken. Yeah, I wanted to break his nose. Yeah, Tyler did break the cheating bastards’ nose. Yeah, Nick and Josh didn’t let him of any easier either.

That’s why I have deliberately told myself that I’m not dating again, at least until I’m twenty; don’t want to go through that heartache for now.

You must be saying to yourself, yeah, she thinks she’s the only one who has suffered a broken heart. But, unlike all the other girls who stand around and say, yeah, I’ll just go find someone else to help me forget the shmuck that broke my heart, I’m not that stupid. I had put my foot down and made a choice. I’m swearing off men until I’m ready again, and that won’t be for a long time. And maybe for a really long time.

I won’t go out with a guy until I know he’s serious and know him good enough.

Right then, Josh entered through the back door, his backpack in one hand, as he closed the door behind him with the other.

“Good Morning everybody.” he said with a smile.

“Hey Josh.” Tina said smiling.

Oh god, could Tina be anymore obvious? She had this huge crush on Josh. On JOSH! PLEASE! The dude’s like a brother to us. Yeah, sure, he was cute. But I’ll draw the line there. Besides, sometimes he can be a jackass.

“How are my girls doing?” He asked looking at us and grabbed Bridget from Nick’s arms.

“Hey Bridget!” he said smiling, and tickling her. Bridget giggled in return.

“Hi Josh.” she said.
Josh sat at the table and sat Bridget in his lap.

“Tina, if you keep applying so much lip gloss your lips are going to blind people.” I heaved a sigh and shook my head at her.

“Shut up” Tina said and looked me, “I want to make an impression in High School, unlike you with your punk clothes and attitude”

“Better that than being called a bitch.” I threw back.

“Girls, behave.” Nick said as he put bacon on my plate

“She started it.” Tina said

“Stop acting like your ten! ‘She started it’? God, I haven’t heard that expression in a long time.” I said

Tina looked at me, shook her head, “You need a man!” she said.

I laughed and said “And you don’t! You’re fifteen for God sakes! Stop dressing like you’re nineteen and stop acting like a bitch.”

“Now, now, Tina,” Josh said as he made his way to us, and kneeling between where Tina and I sat, “Your sister’s right, natural beauty’s more important than looking like a drag queen.”

I laughed, and Josh looked at me, “And you, stop being bitchy towards your sister.” He stood up and pointed towards my face with his index finger “Maybe Tina’s right, you should wear make up. You look pale.”

I looked at him and asked, “What? Are you now giving me make up advice? Are you gay?”

He laughed and looked at the ground than back up at me, grayish eyes staring up at me, “You’re attracted to me, aren’t you?”

I looked at him with a smile “You? Not in a million years.”

He smiled at me and stood up.

“Never say never.” he said and pinched my cheek. I punched him on his upper arm. He groaned and with that he walked back to his seat and sat Bridget back on his lap.

I ate my breakfast quickly, said goodbye to the twerps and headed outside where my two best friends, Summer and Bryan, were waiting for me in Bryan’s car.

“Morning.” I said as I got in the car.

“Good Morning, sunshine,” Summer said and turned around to face me, “How’s life with no parents around?

“Blissful.” I said

Bryan grinned and looked behind, “It must be great; I would rejoice if my parents decide to leave me home alone. Imagine the tranquility of no screaming parents.”

Bryan, unlike me, had no other siblings. He was an only child and I could say this with certainty; he was spoiled. Not that he was a jackass just because of that, but, he got everything he wanted, the privilege of his own room, and he doesn’t have to fight for the TV in the afternoon. He doesn’t have to scream at a little brother or sister for being a little twerp nor does he have to baby-sit any sibling when his parents are out.

Sometimes I wish that I was an only child, but looking back on all of the good times I’ve had with my crazy-ass brothers, my boy-crazy sister, my adorable little brother and baby sister, I just sigh and thank god for how grateful I am for having everyone of them in my life, even if they are a pain in the ass.
