Good Luck Graduates of 2005

How exciting! High School graduations. Some how they are always filled with mixed emotions. Our babies have all grown up before our eyes and we've convinced ourselves that we've missed so much. As they enter a new stage in their lives we find ourselves leaving the stage with the spotlight slowly dimming on our own accomplishments.

But wait! There is still College graduation or the Military and how about a wedding or two. And don't forget we still have mind over matter, we're as young as we think. So, all mothers and fathers stand up and take a bow and congratulate one another for guiding these little ones into their destinies. Graduates as well as parents have accomplished so much with so very little that we find ourselves amazed at the results.

These "Pumpkin-Heads" were tough but we've managed to drag some of them kicking and screaming in and out of classes that at times were difficult, at most tedious, and sometimes, at one in the morning, as we "helped" them complete a project, had us questioning just who was being schooled.

We're proud, as we ought to be, after all, as they go off to follow the road most traveled -life,

we see ourselves in the steps they are taking. After all our memories are still good enough to remember when back "in the day" we were on that road -oh, the circle of life-; so this is what a reality check really feels like.

Well, I for one am excited with them. I know that what they are about to undertake are the experiences and accomplishments that no one can tell them about, but that most of us have lived through. And, they will live life for themselves.

So, fasten your seat belts -Mom and Dad-, we're leaving Kansas! And they're behind the wheel.
