Screw the Pleasantries

Sometimes I wonder what I did,

To deserve such pain,

I wonder what I did,

Or if it’s just the way life is

That the pain is the only way you know you’re truly living.

But I know that can’t be true,

I’ve seen too many people who are happy

For that to be true.

But which one is more alive?

The one in pain?

Or the happy one?

Neither.

They’re both dead underneath.

I’ve never met a single person who is truly happy

It’s always been a façade.

One that I seem to enjoy tearing down

Shreading.

So why pretend?

Just screw the pleasantries,

And please tell me what’s really on your mind.
