Thoughts on Love

Love is so publicized –

the finding of your soulmate,

the thousands of articles on the subject

scrutinized by teenagers

as though they were the keys

to happiness –

that sometimes its true beauty

is overlooked

passed by because,

though it may be in front of our face,

we’re too busy focusing on

the big picture

to see what’s really important.

A Kiss

the giving of heart to heart,

a gaze –

just a meeting of glances –

and he has his soul in his eyes,

emotions so close to the surface

that one kiss,

one quick parting of lips

in reception to the other’s love,

would have feelings spilling over,

pouring out,

water from the fountain of the heart,

so both can bask in its glory

all that remains now

is the decision

and, really,

there’s no choice –

for you’d rather sell your soul

than see hurt

in those beautiful,

emotional eyes

and know you were the cause of such pain

ever again.

Love

The enigma of Life –

we run from it often,

but, in doing so,

often end up in its arms

and find we never want to leave.

Music for the soul,

it soothes the wounds

we never knew existed,

the missing puzzle piece

that we all seek

though many are unaware of the search –

ironic, of course,

that the thing of which so many

are afraid

may be the only cure

for their fears.

First Kiss

A meeting of souls, no matter how brief –

two in one place at the same time,

the eruption of passion, taking a physical form,

hearts beating together, in synchrony –

knowing that was the way they were meant to be all along,

so quick, though – in a flash, over

and only knowledge remains –

there will never be another kiss the same again.
