Tawny Oak River
Daylight on rivers is like stars in the night sky
They sing of hope with loving hearts.
Golden trees stretching towards the sky with silky bark to lay against and drift asleep to the sounds of the brooks.
Lazily chewing on plump raspberries and reveling in the early morning scents.
All these visions caressing my heart with smooth calmness.
The kind of calmness I felt with David House by the Tawny Oak River that day so many years ago,
Even though it was only yesterday we stood there.
I could never play an instrument of any kind, but I tried all the same for the sake of trying.
So I admit I lack musical skills, a’ight?
Music has always brought the elusive darkness to my eyes
’Cause the sound rightly works to please the ears.
The dying rhythm of romance will destroy the hope living in my heart,
Which makes me grave as a rainbow in spring.
I may sink forever and never hit bottom.
Danny Boy was devoutly patient through the times of shadow,
Which will release his heart from the weighty bonds one far away day.
Traveling down a glassy trail with neither a stop nor an end,
Never searching my surroundings to find what is missing.
C’est la vie!
The jagged rocks giggle on the sandy banks under the sun
On the Tawny Oak River where harmony echoes a future.
