Shades of light

Desperation, you see
Vision blocked by a poppy
That bright bolt of red
As consciousness floats
Away in a loud pebbled stream
Can you hear the screams
Of the mortals nearby?
Scatter pixie dust in to the air
And sing notes
That make old lovers cry
And new couples lose hope

How cynical, dear
But then all of us are
When the sun burns a hole in our eyes
Do you see
The way black roses wilt to your charms
And ice forms on your cold pale arms
As you fall to the ground
Like an angel I killed
When I drank too much red nettle wine
And the sky
Was as pink as your hair
When we kissed in the rain
It was two days ago
That I saw you

And then through the storm
You told me a story
A string of pearl lies in a clever order
That shimmered like water in sunlight
I drowned
I forgot how to swim
When you kicked in my head
And then stripped from your shirt
To bathe my white wounds
But you knew all about death and torture

How lovely, you brat
Just take what is mine
I will barely complain
When you leave me behind
If you promise you'll buy me a dress
Of white lace
And a skinny pink sash
So I look like a doll and you use me as such
Smear wet rouge on my lips
And line kohl on my lids
If you're good I will squirm so you hit me
Take the poison from my neck
And undo this corset
Maybe then I will have learned this game?
