Broken Promises

You say you will, but you won’t,
You say you do, but you don’t.
You act like you are, but you’re not,
You see what you want, not what you’ve got.
You don’t see the pain you cause,
You don’t even try to put the turmoil on pause.
I ask “what?” you say “nothing,”
But something inside says it’s something.
You left me behind to eat dust,
Thinking that that would break my trust.
You were mistaken; it won’t rust or bend,
You will always be my friend.
