A Gentle-Man
Youthful face with lightly graying hair
Eye's gaze averted
Yet contact cannot be avoided
Soft and gentle eyes
Whole color is masked
By the glare of ever present fluorescents
Off rimless glasses
He studies me it seems
As I study him
What does he see of me
Behind those frameless windows
Always smiling with perfect teeth
A mouth that turns both up and down
A sign of sadness behind the smile
Does he know my pen moves for him
That if I let it
The pen will expose his secrets
His fears, his loves, his hatred
If he knew would he open up
Or withdraw further trying to hide
What I will always see
Would this stranger welcome my intrusion
Or push his thoughts so far back
He thinks they are lost
Little would he know
That thoughts are never lost
To my searing gaze
His eyes may have little oval shields
But I will always see the truth
Behind the lies
His eyes strive to tell.
