Self Portrait

Through my rainy day window
Lies a world covered
In a dull silver shroud
It is a dark place today
Staring out I see
Water droplets race across
My rainy day window
I look out beyond
The drops playing reindeer games
And try to see the world
But all I see is my face
Reflected back at me
In my rainy day window
Becoming hypnotized by the reflection
I realize this is the face
I show the world
There is a difference
Between window and mirror reflections
Mirror reflections show us
What we want to see
Window reflections show us
As we truly are
My window reflection
Shows a sad, tired, troubled face
Behind the shiny, happy exterior
I try so hard to project
Is this truly what the world
Sees when it looks upon me
Or is the gloom beyond
My rainy day window
Playing tricks on me
Has the dreary day
Infected my peaceful existance
Will pouty lips smile once more
Will half closed eyes gone dull
Ever sparkle and shine again
Does a rainy day window
Portray me differently
Than a sunny day window
Do I believe this reality
Or the delusion of
My bedroom mirror
I think I'll choose
Delusion every time
