As the Cards Fall
By EmpressTiger

The card falls and is my mirror…
Swords…all ten, and the dog black as night, decree,
Nothing but sadness, pain, and terror.

Looking upon the past I see,
Those gleaming days of gold,
The coins show the time of my wealth,
Stories of happiness and joy are told.

But woe is me,
The future I see,
Too many times its right,
Confusing most of all is he,
This card that falls this night.
Thrice I have seen ye,
Now once more, I fear,
There you sit upon your horse,
Your face still not quite clear.
A coin of gold you gaze at,
And the confusion is at its worst.
Slow and plodding, I can see!
As I’m told you’re near,
And not yet here for me!
