Summary

After the only family she has ever known is murdered, Arwyn swears to avenge them. A decade later, she is a master of blades, yet she still thirsts for revenge. But what happens when she falls for the man she vowed to kill?

Author’s Notes

This is my first attempt at an angst-themed story, so bear with me! Please review! I don’ t care if you love my story or you hate it, at least tell me! I don’t even mind flames at this point (but I still prefer that you say you hate the story politely). Anyway, on with the prologue!

Prologue

A young girl cowered behind a curtain as men forced open the door of her cottage. She heard her mother scream and her father shout. She heard the sickening sound of a blade slicing flesh, then the thud of metal boots marching out the now-destroyed door.

The girl peeked out as the stomping of the boots faded. She glimpsed only a flash of blue and white. Then, there was almost silence. All except for the drip of crimson blood.

The girl stared in shock at her parents’ corpses. She stood frozen for a long time before grief set in. She remembered her mother’s gentle smile, her father’s pealing laugh. Sounds she would never hear again.

She felt as if someone had cut open her heart. The pain was unbearable. As tears flowed down her cheeks, the girl vowed in an agonized whisper, “Someday, I will avenge you. The one who ordered your murders will pay. I swear it”

At the tender age of eight, Arwyn witnessed the brutal deaths of her only family. That very day, she set out to fulfill her vow of revenge by seeking a master of blades.
