The floor is enough to make any-
one want a foot amputation. It’s like walk-
ing on fungus. Under every foot-
step something crumbles or clings to your shoes.
Occasionally, you’ll be standing there
(thinking you’re on a dry spot), then you’ve got rising
damp worse than the Nile. It’s like mutant
bubble wrap. (Aw, no fuckin’ nonsense! There’s rat
under here! Jesus!) Makes Swamp Thing feel
right at home. But you think that’s bad? I haven’t
even told you about the walls… Up-
stairs is a face. We saw it on our way
over. It’s stained on, stares out at who-
ever’s walking down the path with eyes that
think they’ve seen it all. Well, these walls have
seen it all – from Pyromania to Animal Farm –
But you think that’s bad? I haven’t
even told you about the roof…
